i kinda wish there was a way people could destroy cursed weapons they no longer use anymore instead of using temples. If a character is atheist and doesn't believe in gods, it seems kind of silly for them to go to a temple to have an item un-cursed by some gods communion.

There is actually a couple ways to destroy weapons without using temples depanding on your class and a few abilities.
And you can always ask an invoker to blast it away 
Or a zerker to cleave it 
Easy if you're a ninja/thief/bard.. edge craft for the win.
curse weapon for necromancers, enchant weapon for invokers, edge for thieves/ninjas/bards.. Or, as fox mentioned, for the more sturdy of flesh, weapon cleaving berserkers.
Also scrolls and staves.
Most cursed weapons are rare. SO over stack your inventory and log out and log back on. Won't be there as long as the cursed weapon is at the bottom of the list.

I've heard this is actually an abuse
I think Malch was going to change it to random instead of bottom, dunno if he ever did it though

Now there's a really good idea!!! I'd never thought of it like that.....
Some items are not able to be gotten rid of easily - and being 'cursed' cuts both ways. You most likely have that weapon for a very good reason....I see it as almost a balance mechanic that its like this.
