Removal of the ignore command

Why do we have an ignore command? All it does it squelch RP. I can see the use of the quiet command for training and what not. But ignore...you are essentially going out of your way to kill potential RP. Particularly if you bring said RP on yourself...

I have only used it in anger after snappy comebacks. I second this.

I've only used it on ****ers for when there isn't an imm on and I'm in a group or something so quiet mode won't do it.

It has its uses...but damn. It was used today to squish RP and I don't appreciate it at all.

Kill em, spit on their corpse, and say, "ignore that."

On the other hand, how does this really "squash rp", cause you cant force someone to listen to your monologue? I mean really people, why shouldn't someone be able to block other people out of their mind. If they don't want to listen to you running your mouth, why should they have to? Listening to everyones monologues is the Heralds job, find one of them to listen to you.

I think what krins had happen is the guy who used ignore was running his mouth and being annoying in general.

I shouldn't have made this about what bothers me or doesn't. I just was wondering what other people though.

very annoying in situations where somebody else is a mouthy aggressor and you escape/win, send one tell back, then are ignored.

like this story

GUY1 "IM THE SPIKEST BADASSEST GUY DUDE, PHE0R ME PZ AND DO MY BIDDING" for 30 minutes.

GUY2 "What the hell is wrong with you?"

GUY1's bash misses GUY2!

GUY1 is DEAD!

GUY2 "Let's chat.."

GUY1 is ignoring you.

yea in most cases this command is used for the wrong reasons. i've only used it once and thats because i was rp'ing a deaf character.

Just like most things in FL?

Exactly. Is it that hard to just look over a tell from someone if you're ignoring them? Why have a command that blocks tells entirely? I have my character ignore people all the time IC, basically just not responding if the other person untill he isn't as busy.

Yeah, but when you ignore them with the ignore command, you do it to piss them off!

If someone mouths off, ignores you, insults you some more, ignores you and so on that is abuse of the ignore command and will get him yelled at by any Imm catching that.

As to ic ignore, I still wait for someone to do an emote like this:

em sticks his fingers into his ears and goes "LALALALALALALALA", not listening to what you say whatsoever.

I don't ignore command people. I just ignore them.

I love the ignore command.

People are awful when they die or win.

For example you are doing something, like reequiping.

Some guy tries to silent PK you and dies.

I sure do not wish to hear him mouth off, how i was just lucky or that he will get me next time.

If he did not RP pre death, hes going to get a ignore.

Hell, i would use Quiet more often if it would not prevent me from hearing yells.

Perhaps a new idea.

Add "NO TELLs" command. That way we can be at peace.

Why not just use quiet mode?

I thought tells were telepathic...

I thought tells were telepathic...

Then why would only telepathic chars be able to send a tell you can hear in your sleep?

I thought they were too and that telepathic characters were just stronger and could speak with enough force for the person to hear it while sleeping, it was the only explanation I could think of for people being able to send messages to each other instantly over such long distances. Magic wouldn't be it, because then Gladiators wouldn't use tell.

So what is the rp behind tells?
