Just an idea... i think this would increase the length of characters lives and i have a strange inkling you'd see less rares on low lvls for some odd reason.
1 Character per IP address
Sorry, but no.

I'm finding you have very little to input nowadays.

n.t.
I only keep 1 character as I don't have time to work on more than 1, but I have friends who have more for the reason being that if one character is boring and not fun to play, and you want to mud, log on one of your other characters.
For example, if one character has many enemies on, and the chances of you getting ganged, killed, assassinated are extremely high and you don't feel you are having much fun, log on one of your other characters. There's a chance for more enjoyable/different RP/PK scenarios and opportunities.
HELL NO. I Have 4 characters in the high 30's-high 40's right now, just a matter of what I feel like playing will decide which one gets to pinn first. One character per IP address? I'd have to rotate my IP all the time then, and thats a pain.
2 or 3 would be a sensible limitation, but not 1.
I think this is just not a feasable idea. Your intention was good, but the idea is a bit too extreme. If one IP had only one char, you would never pinn, you would fight LITERALLY the same people over and over. The game would eat a big turd on a kaiser roll, and die.

I need at least 2 characters at all times to ease frustration of things like spell training. 3 seems a bit ridiculous, unless the third one's a bard, then you're just screwing around. ![]()
I love characters that delete without going back to their corpse. Finding things in pits is awesome! ![]()
In my household, we have two people that play.
I used to play five to six characters at a time. Three being in three different cabals, and the other three being semi-active. I find now-a-days, I don't have the time to hold up that many characters, and have limited myself to at the MOST 2 level 50s and some lowbies if I get bored of them (which hardly happens). I'm proud to say the only two characters that have any rares are those at 50.
I don't like the 1 character per IP idea at all, because if you get bored.. well, you'd be off doing something else instead of playing FL. And I don't want that.
It would come down to player base, in my opinion.
At most muds current size, one character/ip address is not an idea that can be implemented. If we were big enough to have multiple servers, then yes, it could be a great solution to many of the multi-ing issues muds have daily.
I think a relevant idea is to simply implement the 15 minute log rule - where you must wait 15 minutes prior to logging from one character to the other.
Having said that, I think the IMM's have done it in the past where they implement this rule on a player to player basis, depending on their previous actions.
Perhaps if you elaborate on WHY you want to use this rule, I could offer more suggestions, and hopefully, some of the other players here won't shut you down so much.

only reason i sugguested this is because of another mud i played where you had to register your character to an email address and it only allowed one per account. You had to provide a back story, description and describe some things about the character and it had to be approved before creation. It was a pain in the butt at first but people where alot more careful to make enemies and they typically valued their characters lives more because they couldn't just roll up another toon and get to 50 3 days later. I can see why it would get resistance though, i often get bored with characters at times too. And the 2 players in 1 house is also a very valid point.
Randomly I go exploring other MUDs to see what is out there. When I see something like that, I immediately move on. I imagine many others do the same.
The e-mail restriction is stupid and stops people from exploring your MUD to see if they even would like it. People don't put effort into something they aren't sure they'll even like.
do you realize how bland rp would be if everyone played the same characters all the time? i imagine pk would get boring too, you'd be killing the same people over and over
RP is already pretty bland. If everyone had one character, you'd still have people who RP and people who don't.
i'll take what i can get tho. point is, 1CpIP would do the opposite of help. ![]()
I personally am unable to play more than one character at any given time, no matter how hard I try. I play an awful lot too. I get attached to my character, and play it until it's condead or no longer fun, because when I roll/log-in to something else, I'm constantly thinking "I could be on my main". I can't even shelve characters.
Having said that, I can see why other people would play more than one, and am pretty against the idea.
