What if cabal selection was part of char creation?

You're saying that the downside is that people would be able to level faster? How is that a downside?

Anyone have the skills breakdown from 1.0?

I'm for auto-enrollment, I'm kinda against the idea of doing so at creation though. I just don't like how it forces you.  Auto-enrollment could be an RP cost though, the way clan entrance is a gold cost.  Couldn't we make cabal induction cost 5 or 10 RP points?  That at least shows you've done the basics like a history and maybe a journal/note.  Otherwise you're getting a few nice perks for no real investment.

5 or 10 RP is like.....nothing.  Not even a note or journal.  You can get 100 RP just from running quests (Though, you have to be level 50 to complete some of them).  At level 10 you can get about 50 pretty easily without a history or even a description....

For that reason, I'd make enrollment closer to 30 rp points so that it is actually an investment

Imma need you to run me around some of these RP point quests please and thank you. Point the way.

Oh and the investment is apparently a "Time Tax" already.

You can get 100 rp from running quests? I call BS.

I only said nearly.  And yes, I can get close to that

Forget induction, make T 30 rp and call it a day.

Some wait times for cabal entrance is ridiculous in my opinion.  I don't see a problem with making the journey a little easier, and if you get cabal stuff and solo caverns, so what?  Isn't that a good way to teach new players the game?  So when they do get to level 50 and feel comfortable they might put more of an effort into Pking.  Now if they just sit there at level 40 forever, I'm sure the cabal mates should have something to say.  There is a vote command for a reason.

My 2 cents

That's you and the other vets. You folks don't need help.

But what about newbies? They're left out in the wings to fend for themselves.

Your call of BS would be wrong, just FYI.

You can get 100 RP just from running quests in ONE AREA. 101, to be exact, if you do everything correctly.

Wtf, I know how to get maybe 20 RP from quests at most, 100 is such a massive amount of RP from quests that just seems and feels wrong to me

I have to eat crow. I math'd wrong - it's 76 points, from one area.

Yeah, and you need a group to complete the most rewarding ones.

Can we just say Blissful Falls? Is it a big secret?

Regardless, I don’t think there’s a strong argument against this. The idea that people would hover at 40 is silly. You can’t meaningfully engage in any cabal stuff at 40, unless there’s other people doing the same. It’s not like you’re going to down a cabal guard with any speed, and if you’re 50, you’re going to take it back so much faster. I personally would be pressuring my cabal mates to get to 50 instead of chilling.

As to RPing and them leaving? Who cares? How many times have you have a conversation while leveling, only to never see them again? It’s not really different.

I think you’d have a lot more rp if everyone’s got a flag. My watcher would have something to say to a tribunal at 20, a savant and warmaster could be fighting at 25 or 35 instead of hiding allegiances and grouping.

If cabal skills are an issue, don’t promote to M until they’re 30, no V until 40. Or make the level skills/spells are gained more meaningful. No stance until 35, no vortex tap until 40, etc.

You’d have way more rp opportunities in my opinion, and the balance portion will work out as people get to 50, same as it always has.

I was wondering too.  @Archbishop Monk do you mean IMM quests/plots?  Or are there quests IG that give RP points?

Edit: Nevermind, I should read the whole thread first.

@Seravin said it.  Blissful Falls has automatic quests that give RP points.  Not Imm quests/plots.  Just IG quests

So THAT's how people get their RP necklaces two days after pinn!  I'm always the last to know about these things.

I actually think we need more than one way to farm RP points. As it is now the only repetitive quest you could do takes a ton of time, it is full of bugs and if you've completed it once, you only gain 5 rp point every time after. I think slaying the Gorgorak should also grant an RP point, or 5. You've vanquished an unkillable beast after all..

I'd like to see something like this as well.

Every 10 quests you complete, you get a point or two. If you manage to complete some of the more difficult quests, like the Shade Quest, it can be worth 5-10RP.

Quests ARE RP immersion and a nice little RP point or two can be a fun reward to entice people to do them.

**HOWEVER! I don't think any of them should be repeatable to continuously get more RP. **
