That is true. Maybe, then, to help this make Werebeast be called humans until they know they've been graced by Gaia? and at 15 they get their Race changed to Werebeast (aesthetic only).

Then, at that point allow them to pick the Werebeast city. If they don't know they've been blessed, are they sure they're werebeasts when they're born? Can only werebeast parents create werebabies? Further, do werebabies born under certain signs influence their sleeping patterns?

I've always like the idea of makeing Werebeasts a q-race for neutrals. Humans app to become a Werebeast, blessed by Gaia (no imm, ala the one god idea) and upon being grandted they are given a new name, "Welcome, Brad Johnson, you are now to take the oath of the Forest, the Plains, and the Rivers, and live hence forth as 'Badgersticks McGinty' with your animal being-" "THE BADGER?! YES!" "Uh.. .no, Gaia's infinite wisdom picked that name, but you're going to be a toad- yeah, we just need to fill that quota." "Awwww, man!" "Suck it up, at least you aren't an Elf Male. They have no idea what they are half the time." "True, very true."

But, they app and how they apply depends on what beast they become. If they app about being warriors, make 'em a tiger or wolf or bear, app about wisdom, make 'em an owl, or something. Where in, a Demon's history from app and RP influences this name (usually, sometimes the IMM has more control than the player, but that's the wonder of hte race... you're not sure.)

Take special powers by the Werebeast and change them. Each race has the same vuln, but the special skills they get (just like now) are changed around a bit to emphasize the point of the power. Stats to stay teh same, but more animals, more special powers because of more animals.

A bear might get "hibrinate" and when they're plauged and p oisoned, they can hibrinate for 2 game days or something, and come out okay.

Owls might be able to say things to other werebeasts in one short "hoot", that no one else can understand... .but werebeast. Comphrened languages wouldn't do anything. "An Owl hoots at Badgerstick McGinty" "Badgerstick says, 'Alright, in three hours we'll do it.'.

Deer could be able to jump to a near room, skipping the previous. So, they've got a 2 room range in straigh trooms, or 3, or whatever.

Eagles could see everyone on where regardless of if they have shadowform or anything else. (so long as detects were up).

An elephant will NEVER forget anything. You could send a tell to an Elephant were beast and ask him, "Hey, who won teh super bowl eight yeras ago." and he'd be like, "WTF? Your mom did." and you'd be, "SOOO awesome! She did! eight years ago today my mom beat me on Tecmo Super Bowl, NES! Thanks Elephant!"

Just some ideas.

I like the idea about humans questing to become werebeasts. I don't like the idea of making them an application though. Make it a quest that you complete and are blessed with it.

It is a bit silly that werebeasts are named werebeasts anyway. They should just be human until they transform.

I've always been turned off by the random beast selection of werebeasts, as well. I understand the immortals' stance, but empathize deeply with players' frustrations. Perhaps there's a way to compromise?

Immortals' Stance:

  • The gifts of Gaia are random and those receiving them should be grateful no matter the form of the gift.

Players' Frustration:

  • Many of us plan out the RP of our character before creation, and this random aspect of the werebeast race is a major hindrance in the identity and personality of our character. The beast identity is a large part of the character as a whole, and it may not be rewarding to be deprived of the opportunity to play the role we wanted to play.

  • The race restring doesn't seem to be a very plausible substitute, because (as I understand it) it will only change your race name cosmetically, but werebeasts have other skills and long descs unique to the beast. It would be odd to be a werebeast that turns into a tiger but is restrung to a wolf.

Possible Solution:

  • Perhaps when a werebeast turns level 15, the player does a quest and the choices made within the quest determines your beast (as suggested).

  • When the werebeasts come of age (i.e. level 15), they undergo a rite of passage (like a spirit walk) that enlightens him to the form that Gaia has chosen for him.

This way, the player is empowered to play the character they envisioned when they created the character, but you maintain the IG roleplay that the blessing from Gaia is random. It's not like you're questing to -become- a werebeast. The quest is only to make you aware of the choice she's already made for you.

Athelea is still here? Glad to see ya!

I still pop in once in a while. I'm too busy to really stick with a character, unfortunately.

I like it.

And good to see you.
