Bards

My newest idea is to let any character remort to the bard class. It would be interesting to see some of the characters that get tired of conventional life and warfare become taleweavers instead of leaving the lands (deleting) or focusing on new characters.

Bards are traditionally mysterious and have tales of past adventures for a reason. I've never met one without a dark or strange origin.

Example:

Cabal elder 'I just can't do it anymore. My ideals are different from when I started this path. My enemies too numerous... But I have this guitar.'

Character becomes a bard and starts back at level 1. Begins to travel the lands and enhance RP.

you know what would really make this a supper idea? If the bard skills and spells would relate to the class they were previously, thus, all bards, those that start out as bards and those that remort would be different, like a bard should be, versatile, flexible, and wholly unique from one to the next.

Remortted bards could have stuff from the old skill set.

Lust Seduction Desire, please.

I really like this idea, would be interesting to see how it was implemented.

I don't like the idea much. I just have a feeling that there would be that someone who will find combo which is overpowered and will abuse it.

The main idea is to let people become bards. The skill idea is interesting but I don't think taking skills from every class is the answer. The answer is to add in a few more 'fun' skills and options for bards but not necessarily make them more pk viable.

But... why bard?

I mean, maybe my warrior would put down the sword in favour of becoming a healer instead. Perhaps I wanted to cure instead of hurt, serve the people instead of being a menace. Or what if my paladin lost faith and renounced his god in favour of the martial path of a blademaster. I could see a thousand reasons for a character to remort into another class, but I think it's alright with just being questclasses.

You don't need your class changed to become bored of warfare and pursue a path of taleweaving.

And... I think bards are fine the way they are. I would not mind if they got a little extra on the side, just for balancing purposes (detect hidden, making knockout hit as often as blackjack/strangle, maybe an option at 50 to pursue swashbuckling/instrumental/theft).

I like those ideas Melinda, just removing the theft path and having a swashbuckling (melee maybe?) and instrumental (support/spells) route. The bard is unique enough to keep it unique as a musical or melee-ish path, but a thievery-orientated bard would be a... thief?

I think the point of this would be a form of semi-retirement for characters, which isn't a bad idea. However, I couldn't see a Dark-Knight becoming a Bard without some reallllyyy good RP.

My point was that you can semi-retire without a class change. What exactly is it that bards have that other classes does not that makes them excellent retirees? Instead of thinking "What can -I- do that will enhance my roleplay and further my character's development" people have a mentality that is more like "If I was allowed to do this, or if I got that, I would focus more on roleplay". There need to be more focus on the character, and less focus on gimmicks.

EDIT:

After reading my post again, I realized it might had been a little rude. Sorry.

Why not? narnokles gave up dual Malforms and joined Herald because he was tired of killing.

Lol. I have an RP interview with him when he was courting Herald. My healer was scared witless.
