Dwarves , city, King and RP eq.

Ok, we have a Dwarven city, but it has no king.

It is an interesting city, but lacks (IMHO) a RP direction.

What if we added a King to the Dwarven City. Ala Torin of Moria.

That way Dwarves could have a broader RP base.

With that Dwarves are Known blashmiths Making great Armor and grand weapons.

They tend to favor Hammers (forging) and Axes.

Here is what i thought about.

1 racial weapon ala Elven Lightbringer.

I would say Mace, as it serves more Dwarven Classes than a Axe.

Example:

Object 'Star Forge Dwarven Mace' is type weapon, material mithril.

Extra flags: antievil nodrop socketable.

Weight is 35, value is 50000, level is 50.

Weapon type is mace/club.

Damage is 5d9 (average 25).

Affects damroll by 5.

You have a feeling only a Dwarf can use it.

Unique item. (16 Str)

Damage type: "Blast"

It is balanced to other rare maces you can get. Worse than the Fiber, and Heavy.

I think they should also have a bit more decent armor on their shops.

Perhaps focused on good AC.

For example 10 AC across all (even magic) without more bonus.

Good for reequipping and Mobs but lacking on PK department.

Also I think we could have a Dwarven Crown.

This could be the now retired Crown of Elves (copy paste).

As evils still have their Alternative to the Double Plated helm and Goods lost theirs.

Feel free to add ideas.

Sumary:

  • 1 Dwarf King

  • 1 Racial Weapon (1h mace)

  • 1 Dwarf Crown

  • Decent AC Armor in Shops.

You want a dwarf king... roll one up!

I think every race should have a racial weapon/armor...stupid elves:(

We do have a dwarf king.

Lord Arograth

Wasn't Balin the King of Moria? Unless you're talking about earlier (Silmarillion knowledge), in which case maybe you meant Durin? Either way, you're wrong.

We do have a dwarf king.

Lord Arograth

My thoughts exactly.

EDIT: Though I like the idea. I think the dwarf mace should be 2h. I disagree with blast damage. I prefer thwack.

Can be Two handed. Two handed maces are designed for use of Giant Clerics Storm or Fire. Because they can hold them in one hand and a shield.

If shield disarmed they still retain two defenses.

Dwarves cannot do this. A non giant race should only use a Two handed mace/flail if facing non meele opponent, like a Invoker or a Shaman.

What is the point of making a weapon for Dwarves if they later don't use it ?

Lightbringer was two-handed. Which, admittedly, Mya has a point on... I almost never used this.

If there's a king, he has to have thanes. It's Dwarven Law.

I think the weapon should increase a skill, like bash or something good for Dwarves.

I think Mali makes a good point though. If you make a really good Dwarf king PC, it can be turned into an NPC eventually, and then with a special weapon.

Also not sure I follow why a dwarf would use a two-handed weapon against non-melees. I would have thought the opposite--i.e. dual wield against casters and communers, use a two-handed (if cursed) weapon against melees.

Or maybe reduce their disadvantage when on water. That would actually make it worth having.

That is using your noodle! Very interesting..

Copy and paste the Crown..

Should also copy and paste the cloak that the Duke wore???
