I think it would be cool to have a class based on like shooting bows and whatnot, like weak melee skills but gnarly ranged archery effects. I don't know, archer or something. I don't know, it sounded like it could be cool.
Range-combat based class?
Yeah, sucks that we don't have anything like archery. That would really be cool. ![]()
I have an Idea. What about a new Ranger path for Archers, that allowed to shoot arrows out of combat and poison your arrow for nice effects.
Lol all I can say is that will be ONE ABSOLUTELY USELESS class because of a single scroll.
Chance of pk success = -0.4%
Chance of becoming a herald = 99.9% for survivability reasons alone.
This scroll can be obtained at level 45.It is very expensive and it's affects are for too few hours.
Classes with Scrolls:
Invocker
BattleMage
Necromancer
Cleric
Healer
Shaman
Paladin
Dark Knight
Thief
Ninja
Monk
Psionist
Vampire
Classes with out scrolls:
Warrior
Berserker
Blademaster
Ranger
Ouch!!!
But on other hand they cant keep it up forever, the Ranger could just hide and wait.
Seriously, Archery is very powerfull and has a decent counter.
If only Tracking had a counter like FLYght.

"...." Is all im going to say.
Im going to second that "..." take it from two active archer rangers. Archery isnt all that it is crack up to be. It use to be good back in the day when there were no scrolls, blademasters, and actually trying to shoot arrows without the archery and marksmenship skill meant you would miss oh....lets say 90% of the time. Now, its just crap. Although I must admit when I went archer 2 or so years ago the mals almost never, ever, ever worked. Now I must SOME arrows work decently. But its only like 4 out of 10.
It's only expensive if you pay for it.![]()
First, everyone knows money's easy to come by. Second, given how powerful that scroll really is, it's not expensive at all. If it lasted any longer, it'd be ridiculous.
Let the Ranged Class be able to aim at specific areas on the body bypassing the affects of the scroll. Say the scroll only blocks arrow attacks aimed at the upper torso and head but not ones aimed at lower parts of the arms and mid-stomach and below. Rather than different types of arrows they can make, make each area similar to BLMs anatomy strikes cause a different affect. Get hit in the leg, you basically drain 4 times the moves, get hit in the arm and you can't swing as hard and lose like -20 hitroll at 50. If you didn't use the scroll and it hits you in the eyes it has a chance to blind you or maybe it hits someone in the throat and it silences them. Might even have a small chance of shooting them in the hand and disarming their shield/offhand weapon or something or cause it to where they lose 50% in their shield block/dual parry/second parry skill. That would make the class more effective and the scroll not a for sure thing to protect against the arrows.
Oh yes.
Please, let's have things MORE like those #$#@$@$@$@ing Blademasters.
I agree wi th pali and aulian. That scroll is potent, arguably the best purchasable scroll in the game. anything under 100k you can get with any pinned race/class in a few game hours, and you never really have to touch a shop.
On a side note, how can you even factor in the cost? It is something you need to have on you at all times, like recalls and gyvels. I do not even feel comfortable walking through town unless I have all my protectives which usually include:
Gyvels
Sanc
Protection
bless
stone skin
fly
frenzy(if applicable)
a source of poison
a source to cure poison and plague
And that is a relatively small list. I usually cart around 4-5 sources of each out of my bag. God only knows how many of them just evaporate or rot because I never actually use them.
On a side note, maybe not a class based strictly on ranged, maybe they can get like parry, dirt kick, disarm, and maybe slay. Or rip.
