It seems many people are not happy with healers and rarely play them.
Inspired by my newbie thread
Healers are a very niche class, and are restricted by RP more than their actual skillset.
I think they're mostly fine, but I wouldn't mind if resurrection gave lives back from PK as well as mobdeaths.
I think the idea of opening gates to people is really interesting.
They used to be able to, but it led to alot of abuse, it is also a death sentence for most undead races since healers can pk them with no restrictions. It also was common for healers to just gate to necros
To me it looks like this class was made during a different time for different set of reason. If what others say is fact about it, more player base is needed for it to be viable in current form. I don't know how to make it viable for lower player base, so this poll was made.
It's perfectly viable just less required now. Years ago you needed a healer for gear trips. Now most areas can be solod.
What changed about easier areas?
Remove their restrictions and give them some actual PK skills :P Completely inferior to good clerics right now. Probably rebrand them away from 'healer' to some other trope.
The class needs a lot of work.
There is nothing wrong with healers except the ooc bias against them.
Currently people will not accept a resurrection with character A because they fight the healer with character B.
It happens. And it is not a breech of any set rule as people are NOT required to accept.
So. My healers are not broken. Please do not try to fix them.
Some of my favorite experiences were with Healers. Whether Knight, Savant, or Tribunal healers have a lot of RP potential. You asked why people do not play them, its because those people want to PK. Which is limited on healers and not on other classes.

Just general player power level and knowledge. 10 years ago god suitable wherent
Honestly I think the pvp restrictions should be lifted all together. Shamans are clerics that focus on illness, healers are clerics that focus on benedictions. If there is a a valid reason for goodie x to attack evil y, it should be applicable across all classes
Just put in writing the healer restrictions. What they can and cannot do needs to be written down somewhere. My most frustrating moments in FL were getting outcast on healers for things I thought I was allowed to do.
Never once outcast when I did not know it was coming.
Do not actively seek to end life. Do not assist those who do, while they are doing so.
Other than that its pretty well explained in help healer.

Admittedly, my experience was several years ago, so maybe things have changed, but two instances stick out to me.
In instance one, I summoned someone to me (never attacked) 3-4 times to help someone else escape them and was outcast. I didn't view this as attacking them, and I viewed it as saving life. IMMs disagreed, I was outcast while logged off, so I suspect it was someone high level. Found it difficult to even track anyone down to try and RP it as I never received a note or any communication about it.
In instance two, I killed someone who attacked my group while hunting on one healer and was outcast. It was around level 30 someone trying for a qclass I believe (though I am not 100% sure), they attacked someone in the group and I did a dispel magic on them and they died to the group. I could've tried to RP contrition or something, but I wasn't even pinn yet so I just deleted, mostly because I wasn't really interested in starting off my character like that. Different day I might've tried to RP through it but I wasn't feeling it.
