new edge that increases min potion level to L40.

I was looking at Valek thread about herbs and Celerity raised an issue about consumables and their power.

The most used potions are vials and recall. But at L50 vials suck. Because they grant L15 sanctuary, which is to short.

Everyone gets glimmerings. Except me, because frankly I find the weigh to hard to beat on my max aff save defence based chars. So i tend to play classes with wands.

When i play blms or crusaders i have to use vials, pills and herbs.

I once sugested that sanctuary should also check your char level when calculating duration so we dont end up with very short sanctuary.

So my idea is to create an rp edge that will do this and more.

Basically it would turn every low level potion to at least L40 when quaffin. So i quaff a vial and if i got the edge the vial does L40 sanctuary.

L40 to keep dispelling easy and to not desincentivate the use of better forms of sanctuary.

I think we could also extend this to staves, but at L30. To make those L15 xhimera and red  dragon staves usefull.

We could also reimplement human magical bonus by giving this edge to humans.

This would also work towards those who don't have much time to play. And newbish players.

Wouldn't the better solution be higher level spells from said consumables?

Using the wrong vials?

Level 30 sanc sold in Blackwatch.

But I like the idea.

Why not an edge for useables too?

80% of level of character set for spell level on wands for instance, with a certain edge, providing the wand is not already at or above character level.

Another for staves or scrolls.

Just make them expensive.

First the PB complains about consumables, then asks for an edge that makes them stronger. Funny 😂

I've personally seen Mya complain many times about consumables and how easy it is for melees to obtain "high level sanctuary" via the wight, but once she starts playing melees, she asks for stronger consumables, because the wight is too hard to beat. This is hilarious.

I don't think that's needed really.

There are plenty of ways to obtain sanctuary.

But if you're spending RPs on this edge, you won't be able to spend them on something else, and since I think spending points on such an edge would be a waste, I guess one should be free to waste his points whoever he sees fit.

So I am for the idea, as long as it's an expensive edge (150 RP).

"New edge"

Object 'gleaming white vial' is type potion, material glass.

Extra flags: none.

Weight is 0, value is 10000, level is 30.

Level 40 spells of: 'sanctuary'.

Well. Maybe that needs looked into. Its a level 30 to purchase item.

I think it's fine. An extra hour or two for 10k gold instead of free.

I completely agree with Wade's gif. Stop adding ways of using RP points as PK buffs please.

When was the last time you saw someone buy an RP pet first?  Or a room first?  Or an artifact?  Or any RP perk over a PK one, first?  As it stands right now, RP perks are literally the last thing on anyone's mind when it comes to buying things.  I'm pretty sure that most will buy the neck or bless edge first, even if echo were up to buy.

To stop adding PK edges means we're likely not going to see any new edges at all.

For better or worse.

I think an edge of this sort is less of a pk buff (you would have sanc anyway) and more a quality-of-life convenience thing.

Imo just up the level on sanc sources and skip adding more edges into the game.

I don't see why Wade is against edges, after all, more edges means more excuses for his lost PKs.

❤️

Legit I'd spend all my rp on things that I could truely use for rp that was satisfying instead of edges. But they gotta exist first 😂

I'm not the one you asked, but...being able to buy diplomatic immunity would be really cool, or ideally I'd want to be able to buy my own room, and get a key, and have the door be nopick, nopass, noncombat, with paid upgrades in RP points. I'd also ideally want to be able to take myself off who so I could run an RP session in the room without having to go defend my cabal. Or something like being able to "dig" in forest rooms and create an area the exit can only be seen by people you allow it to, then the ability to pay to add rooms to these areas and desc them yourself. Your own little area.

Or the ability to temporarily modifiy existing rooms. I start a fire in elium and pay 100 rp points per room for 1 week RL of changing them to lava and renaming them to "Charred Remains" or something.

Or the ability to create permanent no-get items, like fountains, statues, etc.

Restring pet.

Media mogul, allows note to all or city.

Fosaken Freelancer, journeyman bonus applied only to pve.

And the list goes on.

Edited

Like the ability to possess would be cool 100 rp to kinda like charm person kinda ranger mind link.

Be able to take over an NPC and be able to emote talk ect, basically be able to roll up and add flavor to random to sessions.

I like tricks rename area idea!

@f0xx " I find the weigh to hard to beat on my max aff save defence based chars. "

Can't imagine how easy it is for a newbie who can't even gear up properly.

Sure my halfling ranger pawned the wight. But my elf sadder gets pawned.

For several years I think we are missing middle ground consumables.

We got vials. We got the herbs and we got the glimmering.

Thankfully we now have a shop with a L40 sanctuary.

Has 15 charges of level 50 'sanctuary'.

In a world where the TOP pkers are using a L50 sanctuary item that grants sanctuary for almost an hour, new players are asking if the wight was changed because they couldn't kill it.

I think something to aid close the gap a bit, by making middle ground sanctuary more easy it's good for the game.

The new L40 in shop is nice, and while gold is easy to veterans, it's not that linear for new players.

Vials work because they are everywhere. If you use them up, you can find a L15 vial with ease near you.

And the probability of a new player going out of vials is huge.

Also the idea is quality of Life reward for good RP. Making offensive spells better with RP points that can't be gotten otherwise is not so great.
