i've been wondering at playing a melee for any length of time, aging is a problem that needs to go. either just excise that code or reinstate or reinform players of a possible strength gaining quest.
i only say this because just resolving this broke aspect of the code, that alone will strengthen the importance of all melee classes, which in turn would cure, possibly, the steady decline of dominator-bility chances of a warrior, or a serker, or anything of this ilk. others have raised the observation of melee decline on the forum in the recent past, and i humbly believe it was legitimate and correct. lastly i would say that removal of aging right now is a much much cheaper form (in terms of coding) and viable right now as opposed to any actual class changes. just throwing this out there. and i mean if it's a bad idea, ok sorry
Not claiming any IMM's aspects, but aging is used to push the recirculation of normal players to make sure hardass players will make new ones. Further, mage classes suffer too as their parry or any other str or dex skills they use wane with aging as well
Aging did not create the desired affect.
The players who lived too long were healers/shamans/clerics or the like.
Losing Str doesn't really affect those races DRASTICALLY.
I would say as you get older your memory goes and your mana reserves become less.
yes, it should hit mage classes harder. but, if someone makes a drow or an elf, it will take an eternity to age if they start at say, 30% of age span, anyway. so it wouldn't really matter. you could allways make a drow warrior
Aging annoys me to no end. It means I can only realistically keep a couple of melee classes on my list at a time, which is a problem since I'm constantly making new characters, which is just my nature. That's probably not going to stop anytime soon.
Just a thought...One of the easiest attributes to raise with equipment is strength.
you can't raise it back with eq, can you?
Yeah, I don't think you can.
Aye, the aging proccess modifies the maximum of the stat so equipment will do nothing.
Yeah, Chayesh, you big oaf, what were you thinking?
facepalm
Sorry, you guys are right. I need more caffeine.
who needs sleep when you have mt. dew & coffee?

People who are immune to the effects of caffeine. Let me tell you, without the benefit of mind-altering substances like Mountain Dew and coffee, those all-night cram sessions are a pain in the ***.
to reinforce my point, i'm really saying get rid of aging now. in addition to any class changes that may be warranted. i'm saying nuking aging could in theory be done now.
actually i had no business on planet earth making a curt post like that. apology in advance for certain. i want to say that however much i'm not fond of a blademaster's power, i see now that blademaster was created and implemented to give the entire melee class a true chance VS. mage or mage-hybrid. but traditional melee classes have been suffering except for Ranger. which by the way was a masterful renovation!! serious flag here
irl though, well thought out like the ranger class renovation classs changes take a.....whole...lot...of work.
I've never been a big fan of gimping everything else to make one thing equal. I'd rather take the one thing and bring it up, not bring other people down. So I'd say nuke it altogether.
When you age as it is now you loose one str/dex/con no matter how old you get. I think this hurts avian/slith/human way more than giant races as sometimes you just won't be able to wield that funky weapon any more then.
