Thief Class Idea

Personally I love thieves' date=' and I would like to see some sort of choice of path. However, some of those need to be re-done. Steel, blackjack, pry, gag for any thief; As those are the essence of a thief. Different thief weapons? No I think they should stay the same. Also, more defences and making blackjack not initiate combat would give them a huge edge especially over monks who can only mantis one attack. Some things like that.[/quote']

If Blackjack stops initiating combat, then Thieves would get a TOO big of an advantage.

I would be all for thief paths. I like the idea of a thief who is not interested in killing, simply looting equipment and gold, and more of a thug who uses brutal and less stealthy methods.

Id say for starters that the more stealthly path could have concealment of inventory, less lag on hide and maybe autosneak. Give them more leeway on pry for weight and also some skills that bind their opponents. Then take away trip, circle, dual backstab, and give them much less damage dealing traps and maybe some traps that knock items loose etc.

For the more brutal thief id say that they could lose gag, pry and blackjack, and instead get a form of ambush attack but not like the one rangers get, maybe it would have a chance to knock their opponent out but me more damage based. They could also have a set of many damage and movement inhibiting traps. Id also give the brutal thief hide but not detect hidden, and maybe an extra weapon, lag skill, or thief version of a critical strike.

Why is it that when I posted some extremely similar ideas about thieves getting paths a couple of months ago everyone got up in arms about how stupid the idea was, and that thieves were already overpowered?

And now everyone loves the idea.

Heh, I remember that.

Right now there aren't many thieves in the realms.

Time causes one to forget...........forget the sheer annoyance that thieves are.

The proper way to make this comment is with a link, and a sarcastic remark about how unique and brilliant this idea is.

Trust me...not everyone loves this idea.

I'm all for making thieves unattractive. The suckier they are to play, the better in my book. I think their new skills should be 'surrender', 'suicide', and 'slap immortal'.

This document was dated 2004. Sorry Nekky, I posted this for review ages ago and wanted to revive the ideas since thieves are the same as always, which I thought really limited the creativity of the thief.

This is not a wholesale overhaul, just a view of what could be. All the ideas are meant to show how thieves could go in 2 directions without losing what makes them fun and interesting.

No worries, I wasn't having a crack at you. Just noticing how nobody liked my ideas ;p

Not sure why I was quoted... I was making an attempt at humor as to how I would have handled the sitituation... didn't make any reference to any ideas posted.
