Moderates Lower Bloody Timer

A discussion was had on Discord regarding Bloody Timers. Many of our former and current players have expressed interest/need to have a shorter bloody timer. It is my assumption that currently the game will not allow them to logout until five minutes have passed.

My thought was to implement a test change to Moderates to have a lower bloody timer. It seems fitting with their role and obviously would require some observation to ensure people were not abusing it, but I think this may be a reasonable solution.

Bloody timer has always been a hard part of this game. Something comes up and you have to log off-- but can't. It makes it hard to play this game when you have other responsibilities. I think this idea makes alot of sense.

on the flip side, someone is beating you, so you try to log off to get away to deny the kill.  It is a hard balance.

quit

You're too bloody! You can't quit! -- actually, you can. You can quit by dropping 3 random rares. You cannot log back in immediately if you quit in this manner. Type "quit confirm" to confirm. You will be locked out from logging back in for 30 minutes.

:mda:

I like this idea. The game has changed a lot and change is growth and growth is good, the pbase  has changed and grown with it.  We don't have the time and are needed more urgently now a days. (p.s I thought a word "adays" was actually a word until just now)

@Erelei

Should check to make sure its not consumable rares, but actual  gear.

The word you are looking for is nowadays - you were close!

OK. I will bite. Why brother?

Because, drop some rare consumables. Logout? It should cost you actual gear. I can get 3 random rare consumables in like 2 minutes when logging in to hold onto

There is rare gear just as easily accessible as rare consumables.

Now if you were force dropped 3 random rares, then it gets risky.

Overall I just dunno about the idea of paying rares to quit early...

Example. 3 blackwatch vests = 1 minute @ level 50.

so item level perhaps too.

Maybe people should just manage their time better.  This would be very open to abuse.

How about just lose a life for a fight-timer logout.

How about the honor system? Unless it is abused.

How about instead of a penalty, we offer rewards.

Get rid of the bloody time entirely.  It now becomes a kind of honor system.

If you log out within 5 minutes from PK, your aggressor gains something like 100-250 cp.  OR 5 RP if not caballed.  Or something.  This reward will only be able to be given out once per ... say 6 hours per character that logs out.  Similar to the PK timer against moderates.

Optional: you also now have a 10-15 minute window to where you can't log back in.

Grim: No.  I could suicide on a mob, collect my shit and log out immediately for the same penalty.

Honor system lol. Dang, if only that existed.

Well, honestly there is something to that. Let's think back to when full loot was basically expected. Now I am surprised if I find anything missing. The rules of the game have not changed, but the players have. We have recognized how destructive it is to leave our opponent without anything and causes us to basically lose out on continued battles. It is about mentality and maturity of the player base. Especially from Vets. Vets set the standard of how the rest of the pbase will react. The better we can be, the better the experience for all.

I'm not sure if that extends to being able to fully remove the bloody timer, I think there still needs to be a reasonable time period where I cannot just logout. Mostly because we as humans are terrible at gauging time and part of the cat and mouse game of PK needs to require someone that is currently on the losing end not just logout. However I think we can reasonable explore some options that make sense based on the difficulty level (moderate vs. "normal?" vs. hardcore) they choose. That's my two cents anyways.

You can't remove the timer.  People will quit if ever they think they are going to lose.

Yes the maturity of the playerbase as a whole has changed.

However, there will always... ALWAYS be those who do not change and will abuse the system if given the opportunity.

I have a 2 year old so I understand time constraints as I am sure many of us have kids, wives, husbands... etc. I plan accordingly. It means I am unable to play as much as I would like but it is a sacrifice I take as a parent.

I don't personally agree with the change. I am but one of many though.
