Wouldn't it make more sense for a necro to have to entomb their zombies if they want them to last between logins? I'm not sure if this is a difficult thing to code, but it would make sense RP-wise and would also get some use out of a skill that I'm pretty sure nobody wastes a practice on.
As it is, almost every necro walks around with Traven zombies that they did not get themselves. They should have to work a little bit to keep those zombies.
For the price of being able to keep such strong zombies (or any zombies) they should have to sacrifice a little by remembering to entomb them. A one-hour (game time) lag should accompany the skill because it takes a little while to dig a hole, put the zombie in and fill it back up.
This and my last thread were just some things I had been stewing over the past few days. Feel free to dispute their relevance
and would also get some use out of a skill that I'm pretty sure nobody wastes a practice on.
Heh, well, after having played a necro and gotten zombies solo(Drstams), let me tell you that practice did not go to waste. Though that probably the only reason I can think to use the skill.
I must also note that even the best zombies, Traven apparently in this case, the necromancer is not unstoppable. There are easily half to nearly all classes that can kill him. My character has slain a necro with 3 travens while dressed entirely in mithril and a fire lance. Necromancers aren't as powerhouse as they seem to be even with their best zombies, so gimping a little bit on their skills seems foolhardy to me.
Ah the days, when necros actually had to regain their army after login.
I bet it was a lot easier to kill necro by then, than now.
I know they are killable, of course. I've had 3 pinn'd necros on FL and a couple on AR, I know the class inside-out. What I don't like to see are necros with zombies they can't get by themselves....especially Travens.
So, if the zombie-getting process isn't going to be changed, then make it mildly inconvenient to keep those zombies across log-ins. And let's face it, it is a very mild inconvenience to remember to entomb your zombies.
Makes sense to me. And if someone was smart enough to watch where they log out from and whatnot, they could possible run there and take out the necro before the zombies could be entombed. Maybe make it one tick to dig up each zombie or something. But like was said earlier, it's not too hard to kill necros with a lot of classes as is.
There is already an idea we've been discussing that the IMMs seem to like that will strike a happy medium between the two methods of dealing with zombies at log off.
There's already a penalty when a necro logs off with his zombies. When you raise a zombie, it's size stays the same. Let's say the mob is originally TITAN size, it'll stay there until log out. Then when you log back in, the zombies are your size, and are gimped considerably.
If I see this entomb skill put to use as you say it, (actually, I guess I 'wasted' practices on that skill as you call it. I found it useful in MANY situations) saying you HAVE to entomb them before you log out, I say that the zombies keep their original size when you log back in.
My character has slain a necro with 3 travens while dressed entirely in mithril and a fire lance.
That is ridiculous. Necro's throw out so much DPS. But I don't doubt you, I just haven't had that luck. Heh...a necro is one of the only things I can't survive against.
sounds like there are some interesting issues with necros then...
