Here's an idea.

Ogre cleric.

Of Dischord.

Raargent!!! You are so damn smug with your knowledge of that religion does to a cleric I know nothing of clerics at all!!!!

Take him Reaver or Temporum for extra extra fun.

Why do people always suggest ogre invokers? How could that possibly be a good combo? I mean, I realize that you'd be invincible if a melee fighter attacks, but any mage could wipe the floor with you, especially since you wouldn't have mana to burn, like an elf.

Is there something that my vast lack of experience is causing me to not notice?

And why ogre cleric? They can't even cover the vuln, spell turning aside, as far as I know. Or is that one entirely based on religion, and thus will not be mentioned?

Ogre invoker: Mana shield, saves equipment, and +mana equip.

Ogre cleric: Cure almost all mals (the single biggest concern for an ogre, generally), heavy damage output in melee (enhanced damage+ogre strength), fast regen, spell turning. In essence, their weaknesses are cancelled out, and their strengths reinforced. Combine it with certain DI's, and that'd just be sickening.

Youd just need a buttload of +mana gear

People roll FG Clerics, why not? An ogre has more int and wis than the FG, and they can always use a train or three for mana instead of hp.

Mana shield doesn't block vulns as far as I can remember. I recall an Undead Invoker who was practically invincible because his vuln wasn't ever really hit, and then it was changed to where mana shield wouldn't block vulns anymore. Aren't Ogres vulnerable to magic?

not one person has suggested slith dk

not one person has suggested ogre battlemage(THAT would fookin own)

and of course I myself want to see a Fire Giant thief

mmmm wit da backstab

ogre battlemage would never have a chance. why? imho a battlemages bane is dispel magic. It's a not EXTREMELY HARD to manage upkeep with a battlemage, but yes, it can be frustrating. Being dispelled blows hard. You've got so many spells that drain on the tick that you now have to put up. Countering the ogre vuln and trying to make decent saves still is farking hard. Not to mention you're going to have hella low mana anyhow. So now you have to balance mana AND saves gear. I don't see an ogre bmage being able to do squat. I suppose they would be able to take newer players playing melees at 50. But any semi-smart player will wipe the floor with a bmage who has a vuln to magic weapons (bmage cannot counter this sd air shield is for mundane) AND a vuln to magic in general (hello dispel magic, silence)

edit: and yes, I know manalock would counter the dispel worries, but reflective shield is just a beautiful thing

Neutral monk would be sooooo overpowered......can I have one?

Neutral monk would be sooooo overpowered......can I have one?

No

Ogre clerics would be far too overpowered, because of spell-turning. Without it, they'd be mincemeat for any other mage/cleric. Ogre mages would suffer the same problem: they'd get dispelled and slaughtered by any mage/cleric. Manalock would help an ogre bmg, but any invoker worth his salt would have that and every spell he's got standing down in 1 round.

Minotaur Blademaster, hed have a hella charge and also have the natural axe profciency...which is a blade so now sure why blms dont get it.

Because axes aren't precision weapons. Blademasters rely on grace, speed, and skill, not brute strength.

Minotaur blademaster with two axes in bladestorm stance with rage

Can you feel the pain?

Halfling blademaster Gladiator strictly polearm > anything you'll ever have

Storm paladin and I'll be happy man forever.

I think a minotaur ranger would own with two axes, and three pets.

did anyone say Firegiant Monk Syndi
