It isn't really needed as a change in general, but the the rising RP standards of others, what would people think about adding in a feature that upon our last death that rather than just being disconnected we remain online as a ghost until that time expires?
Why would it be needed?
Essentially so it allows the character/player to finish any kind of RP they may be wanting to do before just being disconnected with death. This separates us from the real world by adding in a feature that allows us to 'absolve' our character's conscious if needed or to say our final piece before ultimately dying. Kind of a death bed confessions of sort possibly.
What would it bring to the game?
A new level of RP not seen before that allows things like the Rhenian RP log of his final moments within the game before he succumbed to death because of the Sun. Instead of being sent directly to his pit though he'd be brought straight back to his corpse for roughly 2 minutes to finish this off.
Would it apply to everyone?
No, it could merely be a command that you can forfeit at any point in your characters life after you hit the last 5 lives you have. This would bring up a prompt specifically stating whether or not you'd find it useful to have as your character may be close to condeath. This gives people with RP rich characters a chance to continue on this avenue to their final parting or even by speaking of something obscure. Something like people who had died and came back to report seeing loved ones or a bright light at the end of a tunnel, or something as simple as Steve Job's final parting words. You would also be able to choose the length of time in which you linger between a set time of 1 tick to 8 not including the 0 timer.
This could also be something you apply for a set amount of RP points as well making it so that each tick will cost X amount of RP points would be required for additional ticks to use. That would mean far less abuse for people who get heated and start berating others after death.
Very cool idea, I like it.
I woulda loved this on Rheinian. Take a few minutes after my execution to come back to the light, and apologize for the wrongs he did after selling his soul.
I am for anything that may inspire people to take it to the end.
Give reputation for a likes idea guys!

That was the main reason it even made me think of it at all to begin with. I've thought of the ghost thin in the past, but didn't see any real point to it, but when I read that log and saw the depth of it, it made me think of it again a little more in depth than I had originally.
Glad you liked the log, Ivesianna and I planned a final showdown when I was down to like three lives using the imms as a mediator. She always outclasses me in rp, but I really enjoyed that character, the trials he went through, and the final death. My favorite character of all time, and hopefully the one I'm remembered for lol
She has continued to RP it even after that log even. She finally 'forgave' you for the sins and your actions and released your soul she had with her in Elderwood probably a month or more ago. I don't have a log of it, but it does go to show the testament she holds in terms of RP overall. Whoever the player is has come a very long way from when I first saw her kill me at level 23 and begin to pray for my soul forever ago. Then to witness her dedication for killing all Evil even if they were in prison, nothing stopped her. Highly entertaining character for me in some regards. Skree on the other hand has appealed to the humor side of me.
I think your character grew exponentially over time which made it unique compared to most others. I prefer low key RP that is kept closer to the chest or minimal so I'm not over stressed when I get addicted to the Character and still have other priorities outside of that. The fact that it impacted another character so deeply goes to show how much yours specifically changed them which is always a win. I would say it's your best character to date, which is exactly why I had said to never apologize for making another player feel emotions negatively towards your character. It only means you have succeeded in doing what so few others have done without having the physical aspects of the human element involved.
Wow, I never knew she did that with him, I'd love to see a log of it if she or anyone has it. I remember kneeling before her, as a warrior asking to be her squire and she gave me a bunch of mundane tasks. To the growing in power, progress of racism that I felt fit his history/crusader character, to being so consumed with snuffing out evil, that he paid the ultimate price, and got tricked and consumed by the very evil he wanted to stop at all costs. Fully loved that character, and Ivesianna is always a joy to interact with, even when shes killing me now. Top tier Rp/Pk. I wanna be like that one day.
