Locate monster and monster tracker

We all now that locate object is useful for figuring out if an item is in, but what if you’re looking at other people’s equipment, and want to check out that cool piece? So you locate it aaaaaand...you have no idea where that mob is.

sad trombone

I propose either or both of the following.

Locate monster would tell you the area the monster is in, so at the very least, you could try to find them yourself.

I think this would be a good addition to adventurer, and the bazaar. Maybe bards also.

Alternatively, we could add a shopkeeper that would tell you the area for a fee. Said shopkeeper could also hire out mobs that will lead you to them, or follow you around and give you hints. They would last 100 hours or something, but wouldn’t help in combat, and when you find said mob, they disappear. It might even be fun to be able to ask them hints like, “which direction from here?” And they could every so often tell you, “more north, then east” or “we’re still not in the right area, you’re looking for the ford.”

lore flail

You examine a flail of pain closely.

Object is type weapon, material unknown.

Weight is 4, value is 756, level is 26.

Weapon type is flail.

Average damage is 12.

Rumor has it that you can find it in Gasteride's Fortress.

Of course, you can't lore something if you aren't holding it.

I'm a bit divided on part of the suggestion as it sits.  Locating a mob has its ups and downs.  Sure, you can find an object, but you can find a DK just as easily.

I agree that finding an object through locate object and having no idea where that mob is is a pain.  A shopkeeper that offers a service has merit, though.

Incidentally, a beef I have is locating objects on cabal mobs or disconnected areas such as Limbo.  If the items removed from the spell display, or otherwise labeled as such, would be helpful.

Such a "spell" already exists.

Solution ADD lore to the purchasable skills.

Not give mages something free since melees can purchase identify,

I like the idea of adding lore to the bazaar, if only because I've made the suggestion before back in July.  :D

Doesn’t do any good if the mob autosneaks, or you don’t know what area they’re in to begin with.

I'd rather this be a skill than a spell-- ask for directions. Make it so mobs have a chance of knowing based on distance and level, and the chance on them telling you based on align and level. Ask an orc scout where valcor is and he he might say the Ford, or he might point south. Or he might tell you to fuck off because you're lower level and he isn't afraid of you.  If you are good, you might be better off asking Kesrick, since he will set you right.
