Team Skills

I would like to see skills accessible only to different combinations of groups.

Warrior + Blademaster =  Back to Back Fighting enabled

Berserker + Thief = Blade Tornado enabled

Etc.

I think this could be fun for end-game exploration, but also for team PK scenarios.

I would also like to see weekly team PK events where you do not die and lose equipment....

You choose a "challenger" to represent your character in the arena. You can select any race/class combo and you get standard gear and immediately jump to 50 with say 85% mastery. You fight in different environments and based on your team exploit team skills. Each kill = 1 point. After death you are dead until the round is finished. Each round is marked by all from one team dieing. At the end of each round you may swap challengers. The winning team may wish to keep challengers due to skill masteries or swap based on team skill advantages.  First team to 20 kills wins and the real characters (not the challengers) get an award.

Events may be thematic and represent different terrain/ race or class advantages/ different criteria for entry.

Most of us have a good handle on 1 on 1 fights. I'd love to explore new team combos and new team skills in a fast paced PK environment showdown style.

I suspect some players would only show for these events but so be it, it is a different style of play.

In summary, team skills would enable:

  1. Changes to group dynamics to make exploring with others more fun

  2. New group pk strategies that would be incorporated into a halloween madness/arena style of team mass pk event

Sounds cool for explorational purposes but i think it would make so less people have to travel together with more eq to split.

As for PK, nothing can stop a double focus on the weaker opponent of a team.

Just my 2c :)

Given some of the PK we are seeing in game, I believe Mali may prove to have merit here.

We see two on one and tag team fights so often these days. Since we need the right equipment to be successful, having to defend against a caster and a melee at the same time causes even some very good PKer's to become frustrated.

Rather than skills that need practiced, it would be nice to see combination progs written that go off occasionally for different combinations. However, we would need to protect the innocent singles out there from being proged to death, so some form of prog defense when facing two player characters (note: not one + charmies) should be created as well.

Mali and Pali put their backs together and come at you with an overwhelming whirlwind attack!

Mali and Pali's whirlwind *** Hurts like Hell ***!

trip

You drop and roll tripping both of your assailants!

Mali falls to the ground.

Your trip grazes Mali.

Pali falls to the ground.

Your trip grazes Pali.

You get the Idea.

Psh.  Nobody can take on the Ali's when united in glorious cause!

I'll be the girl, Mali.  I don't mind - nothing wrong with being a woman, and I've already got the long hair (hell, my hair's WAY longer than that of the woman in the pic above).

Theres a 2 sided coin on "gang" fighting in FL and its sad, but funny to me.

With the trend of gang fighting we are starting to feel, I wonder if its not time to evolve. Army warfare has become unnecessary, a character has other avenues to gain CP and thereby secure their cabal powers. I considered that biweekly, or monthly scheduled war games might be a solution. An announced day where all members of the two cabals may show up for the war games. On "game day" opposing cabal members meet in a neutral territory (built for the games) for an all out gang fight. Once defeated your character is left kneeling until the game is over. The winners of the battle are rewarded with CP, RP, or Gold. The losers of the battle, like players of Aztec basket ball, have their hearts pulled from their chests.

A change like this might affect the playstyle of characters in the time between games, as Cabal Members will need to be well prepared on Game Day. Meaning your Leader may order you to avoid risky combat in the days immediately before the contest. "Save it for the game.", "Lets beat them on the Field where it really counts!", ect. It may also cause opposing players to place large bounties near game days wishing to weaken the enemy combatants. We also might see wagers made upon the outcome of the battles themselves, maybe give Mulao a new title "bookie", where you can wager on the games.

notes:

Inside the battle dome all members of a cabal can group together regardless of alignment.

Bets made with Mulao pay 2 to 1 in even matches (2 v 2, 3 v 3, ect), 1.5 to 1 on safe bets (betting on the larger team), and 3 to 1 for risky bets (betting on the smaller team)

This could eventually replace Hard Coded Vendettas, as two cabals having political differences in the game could simply arrange a Wargame or Series of such.

ALL combatants should receive some RP for joining the games besides any RP they accrue building up to game day.

Finally, once a year we could have an Epic Tournament where ALL cabals submit a team, and the winners receive very special rewards.

This would be rediculously unbalanced.  Not every class can fight in a contained space.  Classes that require some kind of setup, or drawn out attrition would always lose.

You assume the Battle Dome would be a wide open space. We could code the dome so it alters its field of play based upon the character classes that enter it.

For these games to be fair, I believe the Battle Dome would be multi level, multi environment, and we would simply disable the "where" command inside.

I should have mentioned, but thought it unnecessary, characters could RP their way out of game days. "I am not interested in your games, I just want to spill magi blood!"

If the New York Giants ask Carrot Top to be their QB, and Charlie Chapman to be their FB, then they picked a poor team. Pick your team wisely. It may not fit with your current playstyle, but had this always existed you would already be a master of min/maxing team building. Also, those classes would not be standing alone so may not depend on attrition as much as they do in 1 v 1 scenarios.

The only real reason to hate the Idea.

Heralds whupping your rear with two bards, and then recording it in the Library so you do not forget who is the greatest.

lmao

So, then we have the OOC buddies roll synergistic combos just to take on the games? Not like this doesn't kinda happen already, but it'd really promote it.

The question is why does FL need this feature. It seems redundant to the game in my opinion.

I also doubt the player base is large enough to justify the effort it would take to implement this too.

I've been refraining from posting in this thread, but seeing that people actually take this suggestion seriously....

Wake up.

This is like the worst suggestion ever:

  1. Completely un-needed

  2. Promotes ganging

As if I don't already get enough prayer threads "HE GANGED ME WITH THIS OTHER GUY DO SOMETHING".

This would.. increase those ten fold. :(

Cool idea though. Wonder if this could be implemented for certain pets with a flag.

The game is just so far from balanced in anything other than 1v1.  Only a few classes would shine, the rest would just get focused down.  Hp pools are not enough to handle being focused by 2 people.  Hell with the double round incoming from autoassist it would just be melees seeing who could type murder first.

As has been said above - right now the game is balanced around the idea of 1v1 - A change like this would have to require balancing around multiple numbers - which would mean a LOT more changes.  Also I really don't think that given our current playerbase numbers we want to be balancing around multi-person PK.
