At least you got rid of that terrible inverted picture....

That epic chest hair though...looks like a fire in my soul!
Damn.... I should have kept my thoughts to myself.
I was a beast...now I'm just fat. All the manboob jokes actually caught up to me and now here I sit, a lump of IT help desk manager.
Jesus Christ I had almost forgotten that pic. Embracing nightmares in 3....2....

You might not do it, but knowing our history and players, that's a very naive thing to say.
I don't want this game to turn into "whoever has the bigger OOC ring wins".
The most interesting thing about the old OOC rings was how much they overlapped. Player 1 2 and 3 all shared info...but Player 3 was feeding into to Player 4 5 and 6...all the while Player 6 is cool with Player 1 and 2 and is telling them everything that's going on lol
I think the funniest thing to me is that people still believe I sold character(s). I'm the one who started that whole rumor and years later people actually believe it. Truth be told I only ever gave away 2 characters. I had never touched a MUD before, let alone FL. My buddy was playing a Ogre Knight E and would let me play him sometimes, trying to get me hooked into the game. He quit and I took over Dharg full time, I had no idea about MUDs or rules or community. Plus I was young and had a bad attitude back then lol I got L somehow and just got tired of the game and so just like the char was given to me, I gave him away. Then I rolled, ranked, and trained a character for someone as a birthday gift lol
Anyway...glad a lot of us are still around :P
To be honest I don't think anyone cares. It's just so funny to tease you.
By the way, if anyone wants to turn this demonic picture into something more humorous, keep in mind you can invert the colors in paint :P

As long as I care, that's all that matters.
What about the idea of placing flags on these Decked characters that makes it alright to gang them? Seeing as how I might be one of these characters, in my perspective I wouldn't mind the idea (especially if this is by choice) of allowing characters to gang me. In return these characters would have more reason to log in and try to win. In addition I could receive incentives in some way when I am outnumbered?
Some examples off the top of my head are;
Cabal guardian is stronger
Cabal services/equipment is cheaper
Greater chance of Imm given rewards depending on the success of the character after said gangs
Greater authority over rp plots and ig changes
Faster/easier promotions

I kinda like this idea. Would you like to learn more about Legendary characters? Y/N
Keep in mind pk ability is only HALF of FL. I don't see why a character that is 99% pk and 1% rp - bc they must - should gain faster promotions or promotions past V / T at all. DISCLAIMER: I do not say at all that your chars have no rp, this is a general statement.
If you are strong in pk already, you also should not need any boosts in that regard.
If you log in to 2-3 enemies you can decide to fight them all and actually tell them so (done that, was fun). You can't do that with every combination, bc in some cases that will utterly destroy you (e.g. monk & invoker). Behave ic. If you're a big bad fire giant yell something like come on you puny little squirrel droppings, I'll take on both of you! ;)
If you do this right, promotions, fame and influence will follow automatically if you are successful AND add in the rp.
I don't have a large problem with 2vs1, that being said maybe nohody wouldbhave an issue as long as the single player is given a slight buff. Is they're a way to code group based conditions? Like you get slight defensive buffs if your fighting multiple pcs? while your bloody timer is up if it was triggered by a pk Tongar blesses your fighting spirit if you fight someone who isn't the original pc?
Fuck no.
I dunno what happened....Somewhere along the line this game became a "1v1" power gaming game where every single player has a q-thing or a freshly buffed OP class. It is impossible to have any fun playing casually with a combo that isn't blatantly OP decked to the tits.
All these ideas are bandaid solutions to larger problems that aren't really being taken seriously.
Give the right people any of their favorite class/cabal/race combo and they will excel at it.
I will take for example a cleric, shaman, necro, blademaster, or any mage in savant and rack up half a dozen kills at least for every death.
Hell we have a druid right now swinging for the fences, and only minor changes to that class. Some solid Rangers in Harg and Bloog. Kuhng is a decent monk. Lisko is a nightmare of a thief. So there's one good bard and one or two good necros.
The game is supposed to be challenging. I rolled 3 characters that more or less flopped before I landed on my current ones and started doing well.
Skill level is way up with the concentrated pbase
There is no fundamental problem here.
There is a fundamental problem in how equ plays into gaming, and that is the drastic difference between rare & hard to get and more basic equ that is easier. The pbase is older now, and when you work 40+ hours a week, you don't want to burn so much time worrying about it. Now, along those lines, say someone spends time getting a moderate set, and then is full looted. If you work and do other stuff as well, who is gonna bother? The main problem with fl as it stands is it's too time intensive. And yeah, we've made steps such as reducing training time, and reducing xp, and upping groups to within 10 ranks. So the process of getting to 50 has been helped a lot. However, if every time you die you risk losing everything, well, life's too short to fuck around like that. We need to move away from needing to be concerned about the time to get equ, not to mention it even being available.
I can tell you the last time I got killed and lost everything I was almost done and next time I probably will be. And yeah, you can say harden up, or it's supposed to be hard to get good equ or whatever, but: 1.Don't care to harden up, I would stop first, gl with losing more and more people. There was a time playing fl where I put in tons of hours, but those days are done. I, and other many other adults want to not worry about such time constraints. Also, most popular games have no such time requirements. 2.People without equ don't fight. Specifically vets which is all the more funny cause the people who think they're strong bugger off at the first chance they are disadvantaged.
Proposal: Armor via rp points. Similar to necklaces, but more upgrades.
Buy piece for x rps, upgrade 1 for y, upgrade 2 for z, etc. Newer characters have more access to equ, established characters no longer have to worry about wasting tons of hours. First level would come with a customized name and nosac/owner only but weak stats. Final upgrades can have class specific buffs.
One of the first things that I thought was weird in fl was that you were required to write a description, only to have a constant flux of equ that you are "actually" wearing. These rp based equ would give the dual sided benefit of not focusing so much time on equ, not having to worry about availability, allows rp to affect your char in a much more profound way, and it ties everything back to your actual description for those who are ocd about such things.

Speaking of things that drives people away. I remember a lot of your characters, and I find your analysis very funny. For many reasons. Number one, as I recall, you are a terrible loser and if it's possible, a worse winner. I've seen you take to ooc boards like fb talking mad shit about people who didn't even come close to you and you just wanted to smack them harder out of the game.. I've watched you full loot people who couldn't even touch you. And you say increase skill level? You increase skill level by fighting equally matched players, or by fighting merciful stronger opponents. You represent the worst of what "vets" and "elites" are in fl. There's a difference between "challenging" and "steamrolling". We barely have any new-moderate skill players. Why would they stay? Are you the only one? No. Have I witnessed many first hand? Absolutely. If you ask me, sportsmanship should be taken into consideration almost as much as the rules themselves are, but that's another topic.
So yes. There are fundamental problems in the shape of our vets, our attitudes, and the time consumption of the game itself. And gues what, equ fits in on all three points.
Sorry Nurrog but gotta use you as an example here.
Barely, ever EVER see you. Now at the end of the month you log in to get tally up hours, save your gear, and save your cabal spot. While others are out here just hoping a banner comes back with the rare repop...
I'm not saying this is what you do, but it IS part of the system and how it works.
