How do you feel about characters who utterly REFUSE to pk, holding onto elite, high end eq that is highly sought after? Such as healers, or heralds, or royals who are rarely ever around? Perhaps it is fair that characters of this nature, who have VERY little chance of ever dying, carry this high end rares without a chance of them hitting circulation again? When is the last time you saw: Adeptus Torso, Adeptus Face, Hands of Zha'rek, Fullplate of Twin Sabres, Godforged sacrificial dagger, Ring of Abyss, Solar Grasp of Wendigo, Ancient Scepter, Soul Tear, Acid Etched armplates, Worn leather sleeves. The truth is these items are being held by characters who either do not have alot of play time, or choose not to log in often. Without revealing too much, I believe YOU are a character holding one of these items, in a similar circumstance to what I suggested above.
Uh, I've seen ALL of those things except the dagger recently. I know a character that has quite a few of those things as well.
Also, since I seem to be unable to edit on my phone, allow me to say here that I forgot in my last post to you, nameless, some of the rares I seem to be hoarding... Cause you know, I frequently use DI (can't remember when I last did). I will include all my rates and uniques. Judge for yourself how badly I am impacting the game by having them on a character that usually pulls about 60 hours a week.
1 adeptus face.
1 ethereal radiance
1 crab shell leggings
1 white lab coat
1 shield of house erythane
2 crustacean rings
I might have boots of protection, I don't remember. Just so decked, right?
If there are any more, I don't remember them, and if it will make you rethink calling me out like that, I will post an eq list. I'm in no way keeping rares out of circulation. I am merely lucky that those that can kill me don't try to. Usually.
Randomly generated gear = Diablo = favors people with more time on their hands.
Be offended all you want about me not caring to read exactly how far the randomization goes before telling you that its a bad idea entirely. Its not trolling, its just you being sensitive.
How is my Adeptus Torso with stats of shadow plate actually an adeptus torso?
Be fair to what you're criticizing. I'm not sure I like the idea either, but an Adeptus torso with oprogs intact but slightly weakened ac and other boosts does not equal a shadow plate, even if you happened to by chance obtain iterations with the same ac/boosts. Not only that, but the "full power" shadow plate would not be guaranteed either - if I'm understanding the suggestion right, on average either both would remain where they are or both would be weakened slightly, while their current "full power" iterations (or better/worse) would be achievable, though might take a few attempts. In the vast majority of cases, if you obtained an Adeptus torso and obtained a shadow plate, the torso would still be significantly better under this system - though yes, you would perhaps occasionally find iterations where that is not the case.
Also, while I don't think this idea fixes the problem at all (and would probably just exacerbate it), it's silly to pretend that the current setup doesn't favor those with more time on their hands as well when it comes to getting good eq.
I was going to write a long reply, but then I decided not. Even reading this thread makes me sick to my gut, because stat randomization symbolizes everything I dislike in modern RPGs. The lack of it is one of the main reasons why I play FL and not Diablo or PoE.
Please, ask anyone who has played Diablo, what is the thing they hate most in the game and they will all reply the same - the grinding. And grinding exists only because of stat randomization.
FL has problems, but item availability is not one of them.
This problem exists only in the mind of those who place too much importance on items.
I've had this argument with Zrothum many times in the past, so seeing him stand against this suggestion confuses me, but it speaks enough about how bad it is.

You're easily confused then ;-)
Just because I had issues with the availability of equipment Doesnt mean I'm automatically for every proposed idea to combat it. But obviously there is a problem. Maybe you're the one finally starting to change your tune.
