Still trying to figure out if this is a serious suggestion or a joke' date=' Mya? Seriously, it's wrong on so many levels...[/quote']
Do you go out of your way to be a jerk? This is an IDEAS forum. That being established, how can you say that Mya's 'IDEA' is wrong.
Uncalled for. Lets be constructive.
New mage class.
This Blighter idea intrigues me. Would be very exciting to have this class implemented with perhaps a makeover to the druid class and some dynamic world changing influence for the Watcher cabal so they can be more on par with that of Tribunals static world changing influence.
the name blighter just seems to be evil. I dont see how a neutral can employ such destructive forces (Rust, plagues, disease, rot)
I believe that the Blighters should have the option to be evil (obviously, they would not be former druids in this case), though I see their neutrality much the same as a Watcher. I mean, Watchers lead raids that slay innocents on the daily. That doesn't make them evil simply because of the reasons they do it. The same could be said about Blighters, and that would fall under the RP of the player.
I don't think killing is naturally evil. It is how it is done. Evils are the only align that use Mals for a reason.
I appreciate the input. I admit to making a lot of this on the fly, as I couldn't remember exactly how I put the class together the first time. If you have ideas, please feel free to let me know.

Are these things not part of Nature?
Frankly, I've always found the idea that it's more "good" to kill someone with a lightning bolt or sword rather than disease a bit odd... I know that to kill slowly and with greater suffering is considered the more "evil" way to do it, but then why can good rangers use insects and poison arrows? Why is slowing someone's metabolism or stripping their sight acceptable (ray of truth), but poisoning them in a somewhat painful way is not? Why can goods wear the poison-barbed gauntlets?
In other words, we've already got a number of situations that are exceptions to or in contradiction of the idea that mals=evil. I don't mind us maintaining a trend in which mals tend to be favored by the evil over the good, but to treat them as wrong enough that neutrals shouldn't be allowed to use them as a matter of routine? I think that's overstretching it.
Each of Aabahran's classes is unique in its own way. It carries whole atmosphere with it' date=' and no matter how you twist it, just making a list of some skills and spells already available and creating paths around them is not a new class really.[/quote']
Yes, but this was quite clearly designed as an "I had this idea, let's brainstorm around it!" thread, not as a "here's my class idea presentation, what do you think?" thread (ex. Enethier's post). To criticize the former for lacking the level of detail of the latter is either disingenuous or missing the point.
And someone remind me... what basis in FL lore did Crusaders have before they were implemented? The One God actually having followers seemed to come out of nowhere.
EDIT: GAH! Forgot to mention: Enethier! Love the terrain-based spell effects idea.
Class sounds fun to me.

That and, what drives you to kill.

Wild animals kill to eat, to defend their territories, to show their superiority in the herd, they kill out of fear and so on.
Killing is natural process itself.
As for comparing insect swarm to the shaman mals, that's like comparing apples to oranges.
A disease is a life form eating you from the inside. A poison is a toxic chemical interaction that lacks agency. Both of these are quite natural occurrences. I don't see how either wouldn't fit into a nature-based power set... the insect swarm example was to point out they already do.

Ehmm... the point was about whether mals in their purest form=evil.
Good thieves can use blackspore. Good ninja can use lotus scourge...
And blademasters of ANY alignment can poison, plague, weaken and enfeeble.
"Is killing a noble thing? Well, a life fought for others is a noble thing. That is a life worth living."
...while others just want to see the world burn.
i want a geomancer
This please. An axe-wielding terraforming mage? I'm down.

why does that remind me of a battlemage?
Different terraform.

Think shaman crossed with an invoker, with some mild melee damage potential and a dependence on terrain type.
Similar is basic design philosophy to Enethier's Defiler idea. Both cool concepts in my book. ![]()
I too really like the Defiler/terrain idea. Would certainly change some tactics and add an interesting depth to the game.
I thought this was a seriously cool idea. Its a shame because the reason I stopped playing here, was because of the repetitiveness of the game. If i want to roll play a character, why shouldn't I choose what I want to learn as I grow up, what if I don't want to be a dentist? Fact of the matter is if you were able to customize your classes, like you can in any relevant game, like call of duty, or anything else that is popular, more people would play.
Great Idea, a shame it will never happen and you will always be stuck recycling the same classes over and over and over.
P.S I logged in a week ago, started playing got five ranks and was like bah I have spent over 3000 hours of my life doing this many times before. Quit and went on to play black ops, where I pick my guns, my perks, my attachments, making me truly in control of the play.
