Blademasters: Level 30 qclass

My only other advice is to be careful with whatever we decide to do. If it is the removal of the class' date=' please make another to replace it.[/quote']

I am sure NOONE wants the removal of the class. Neither the staff, nor the players, so lets not even talk about removing anything aye?

You and sarcon being perhaps the two other people that have A LOT of experience with BLMs, your input is very valuable, although I somewhat feel you are a bit biased.

Mind you, a blademaster is nothing like a fast sports car on a bad road. It's more like a really fast monster truck.

I dont want to see anything removed, or even changed. I just think a class as versatile, and powerful as a blademaster needs to be limited in how many can exist at any one time. Maybe restrict it to followers of the Combat religion, kind of like the other qclasses besides psi. Not sure if it should be a level 30 qclass or a remort class.

This would prevent stale RP existing in obvious power combos as they would have to truly get into the character in order to gain access to the blademaster class.

I disagree. This would prevent blademaster avatars, demon blademasters, as well as undead blademasters.

Can demons be blademasters? That's something new for me.

Why would it prevent it? You get blademaster, then apply. Same thing goes for Avatar Psi. You have to get psi then avatar because avatar is not on the race list for psis

There was one in Nexus (Reaver) about two years back or so. He wasn't the strongest blademaster player and didn't last too long.

Because if I remember, you said:

Undead MUST be followers of the death religion. Avatars MUST be followers of the purity religion. Demons MUST be followers of the dischord religion.

I said perhaps, I thought you had meant in relation to blms being a qclass. I did not f ully think that comment out and fully see your point in it.

I think there should be some minor tweaking as far as the code is concerned. I agree with f0xx on imposing counter timers, and certain changes considering specific class lores. As far as it stands now blademaster stances trump all competing melee specialities (warrior, berserker, ranger)

The only thing I ever see trumping a Blademaster, if played right, is an Illithid Necromancer, Lich, or Berserker. Berserkers have haymaker which Blademasters (thankfully) cannot predict. Illithid Necromancers have leech, and death grasp/power word kill, and Liches have other specifics that I won't discuss that will also make a Blademaster cringe.

This of course, is assuming said Blademaster is not in a cabal. Now, ADD IN CABAL CHOICE: Warmaster, Knight, Nexus, Syndicate, Watcher, Tribunal. Every single choice powers up a Blademaster in some way, making their weaknesses simply normal hazards any other class would have to deal with.

Being most of them are received at T or above, a Blademaster in any Cabal below T is generally going to be weak to above mentioned classes. Hit Trusted, however, and you've got yourself a very strong adversary that will -never- die if played correctly. Add in magic resistant races and/or high dex races and you have an even more powerful adversary that doesn't really need to worry about saves.

Code needs to be changed. Things need to be moved around. Death weaver should only be allowed to be used with one weapon, for instance, and be dependant on having that weapon wielded (like every other stance). So if they got disarmed, deathweaver would be negated.

Remove acupuncture. Give them 'healing' (like monks). Why? It increases hunger/thirst A LOT, and it is a considerable amount of lag. The way it is now, a blademaster generally doesn't have to meditate long to get back to full health if played conservatively, and still be able to dish out unbelievable amounts of damage at a time.

There's a few other ideas floating around in my head that I haven't quite had time to think about, but this is the beginning of a lot of changes I'd LOVE to see.
