If you have the dual wield skill, and are not dual wielding, you should be hitting with your off hand every once in awhile just as if you were holding a weapon, but it'd be 'punching'.
Dueling your Hands?
How often is a character that possesses dual wield in a situation where they are not dual wielding, but also not using a shield or two-handed weapon?
When they're disarmed?
Fair enough...
I just don't see the need for this, I guess.
Balance!
I've always found it funny that a warrior can be skilled enough to wield two weapons at the same time but not be able to fight with both of his bare hands at once ![]()
That would require the second hand skill, not the dual wield skill...
Hmmm.... you have a point.
Being skilled as a brawler is different than being skilled with two weapons. Dual wielding assumes you use weapons to divert your opponents weapons/shield so you can get the extra attack(s).
Not every badass warrior with two weapons is gonna know how float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
It's funny how people are ALL about not using reality as a reason to change something, and then they use it to explain why we SHOULDN'T change something.
God help us all.

I was simply pointing out that there is already a skill that applies to the situation that you were describing... The appropriate response at that point would have been to say ok, how about we give warriors second hand then??? Nothing to do with reality or suspension of said reality at all... You could actually argue for a "brawler" warrior lore and make a couple of monk-like abilities available to them... That might be the best path to pursue... :-)
Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. And while my post wasn't directed at yours, Kazimer, I'll go ahead and reply to it. How is it that you'd need a second hand skill to hit with your second hand, if you already know how to dual wield with your off hand anyhow?
Again, someone's probably gonna go off and say "oh the reality of it, sir!" So let's let this discussion die in the water here. Bleh @ everyone who hates change.
I agree completely with this tbh. The utility of this code would also allow bards to utilize instruments much more in combat without the need to switch all the time.
Great idea!
When I first time played a character which had skill to dual wield, I actually was disappointed that I couldn't use my fist as offhand weapon. ![]()
My bad, there is no second hand skill, only second parry... Been forever since I played a monk... Didn't mean to come off as a jerk, sorry...
I believe it is the martial arts a and b that allow for the multitude of strikes. On topic, I agree with this and have always found it odd as well.
