I'm making this thread to talk about what Mindflayer had suggested in MMA's raid-eq thread. He had mentioned putting more emphasis on skills so that eq wouldn't play such a big factor in PK jibba-jabba.
What kind of skill/spell tweaking are we talking about here?
Yeah it really does appear that these days EQ IS EVERYTHING for the most part
It is not.
It's mostly player skill. But when players are around the same skill level, eq makes a huge difference.
But I agree that some eq can be overpowering.
Like discord mask L56 haste or the nimbus of power healing.
Just like cabal skills have become very unbalanced, Nexus hasn't gotten any buffs in ages but rather got toned down. Yet Knight gets new skills. Not to complain since I still do love this game, I'm just saying..
Each cabal will get their turn in updates, so Nexus will too.
Jekyll, Nexus needs no buffing.
Just because a cabal hasn't been tinkered with for some time, doesn't mean there is something wrong with it.
Well, this is exactly what I was talking about in the integrated paths thread that f0xx hates so much...which is still the number #1 most viewed idea in the ideas forum. Increase the power/usefulness of skills and lower the power of EQ.

I've always felt that diff people who run the game are perhaps rooting behind the scenes for their favorite things, like virigoth def loved Vampires so he wanted them to win the war so to speak, I can't help but feel that perhaps the current administration is more on the side of Goodness since the knights do get new skills and Nexus face it has been left in the dust. It's really only good for certain classes in my opinion and im looking at the overall aspect not how one skill might benefit one class.
But also, I definitely feel that consumables and eq have become the most important thing in the game. I used to always rely on tactics to beat people and now I realized that no matter the tactics, without the EQ it's hard to compete against anyone who's decked out.
I haven't dispelled magic and had it work once yet at 50 and it's mastered. Look at that log of Klemsor vs Thulgan and see how many times HE dispelled and had it fail. Tell me a Giant is THAT hard to dispel?
If you have any specific proposals what you would like to be changed for Nexus, submit it on prayer. As another Imm said, we are doing ALL cabals, so Nexus will get their turn too.
Atm Nexus reaver skills are probably some of the most immediately effective in game, so I doubt we will upgrade much there.
We're still very willing to hear suggestions however.

Dispel works fine. It's a slightly harder to land due to it's power. But it can be landed.
If you cannot land it, it's cause you are not insisting it.
Spells are not skills. Spells will be saved most of the time. Spells will be very difficult to land on a prepared opponent.
This is where player skill comes in. Recognizing the suit of his opponent and it's weakness so that you use the spells that are most likely to land.
On Klemsor, although uncommon, nothing prevents someone from getting enough saves to nulify their saving penalties.
Lol mate, do you even have ANY idea what you are talking about? Do you have any idea what the new skill does?
I personally think that knight took more of a nerf than a buff. But what do I know...
I'm just saying in general they got the long end of the stick in skills and I didn't feel they needed another one.
As far as dispel goes, people didn't always used to have -60mental. I guess it's because there's fewer players now to distribute eq to that people have these uber sets? I don't know...
I suggest you both play a Knight and do some intense testing. You will realize (if you work out how the new / changed things work) that now Praet and Sigil are much better balanced. It definitely was not a general down toning. Especially Praetorians have gained new and very useful skills.
But what do I know...
Who was your last Knight, foxx?
The new Praet skill is pretty nice.

As Anume mentioned Nexus skills get the more immediately effective skills in the game, making them easily the most powerful right away compared to most cabals. The revamp made Knights more powerful but I still don't think praetorian matches Nexus reaver skills. I actually believe reaver benefits more combos in the game than most other cabals. But with your comparison between Klemsor vs Thulgan. Using Thulgan is not a good example, he has been around a long time and is a very competent and equipped player, regardless of rare distribution some people will get the eq no matter what.
The new Praet skill is pretty nice.
I used it a bit, but found the already powerful reaver combo's already have advantages over it. Its seems more of a defensive equalizer to me, which in the long run we know pure defense will not win. Though I'll say my experiments on it may have ended prematurely so I will admit I am no expert on it.
