Hi guys...
SO, I go to make a new character, just because I have a short attention span and I suck eventually...
I have been playing a long time, and I know what race can be what class... The problem is, because the help files are now two pages long, people who don't know what race can be what class, there is no way to find out in the character creation process...
If I choose, say gnome, it lists the history, which is cool, but it doesn't tell me if they can be a warrior, or a liche or a battlemage... That in my view is a huge detriment to new players... They shouldn't have to go to the web site or the forum to try and find that information...
I think the race history is a nice touch, but because you can't type in HELP GNOME2, you can't read it all anyway... Maybe just put the available classes at the beginning of the file would at least make them accessible...
Just a thought...

Gnomes can be the following classes:
Bard, Warrior, Ranger, Thief, Invoker, Battlemage and Blademaster
From the help file...
What he means is that the race files should have the available classes listed at the top, since some races you have to "HELP RACE2".. and you can't do that in character creation.
Why not just give access to all race and class helpfiles during character creation? Make the "help" command an option as well as the numerical race/class designations.

You can't access the help files until you create a character... So you can keep shrugging all you want, just don't expect the player base to increase if people can't even figure out what class they can play with the race they choose...
Talked to a newb today that wanted to know what skills other classes got, and I had to refer him to the website... Unfortunately, the skills list is not on the website, and you can't look at other classes' skills in game... So, technically, skills lists are no longer available...
Sorry, but these seem like barriers to me...

Well, skill lists not being available at character creation is something different. But you can access class/race help files without even being logged in.
Also I agree with jibber that class list should be at first page somewhere at the top too.
In the end, whoever wants to play will play. What difference does it make knowing the skill/spell list but not knowing what those names mean anyway?
quest class/race application help files should be listed as well.
This is something we advertise on all our blurbs on all the sites, yet you cannot know the requirements unless you make a character and read help files.
just a thought, on the same line as the op.
I think a little more pizazz in character creation would be a good thing, maybe some color and availability of help files. I would also have abolished the roller a long time ago, I think every race/class combo should have their own predetermined starting stats.
I just started not that long ago, but I can see how rolling new characters would get old. However I still have fun doing it.
I dunno... I blame D&D for that. LoL
maybe if you just received the max roll automatically. that would allow you to set those extra points into dex or str whichever you see fit.
shrug
Liadon your avatar scares me. Just saying.
