the full-loot conundrum

Everyone fights. Even if they do not want to.

Even Heralds no PK can be engaged and killed.

Healers can't gate blind.

Healers can't recall cursed.

Healers can't teleport blind or fighting.

Make a DK open with cleave sleep, curse. Check protective shield. Check Sanct.

Open with Dirt kick on tick, and chase him.

He runs, when he sees you ? Get shadowform.

Aff saves vs Warriors.

Flaming weapons. Try fighting a warrior wielding the unique sword, and dualing a whip with a Ember. All things you can get alone in mithril.

Damn Mya is so HOT!

Well, a lot of this uber suit stuff, it seems to me, is a result of people getting things that aren't readily available for their class.... or even meant for their class. Ninja's getting haste... sure, there are all of what? Two sources for it? Three max? But if you're a ninja worth your salt (any ninja played by anyone that's been here a year or longer) you only attempt assassinate while hasted.... lest being called an idiot in the logs for even trying something while not having the top teir gear and the best available chance... and if you succed with such, you're a 'lucky' player who 'needs to learn not to take chances.'

Warrior who wants to kill someone? Hit them with afflication damage (as mya claims).

Want to hide, Shadowform, as mya said. I didn't know DK's could do that... which leads me to assume anyone can get a consumable that allows such.

Maybe consumables shouldn't be rare if they're amazing... maybe they shouldn't be at all? "but then how will this balance ." Well... it may have 'balanced' one class... but if a class isn't balanced upon start up, then it's a broken system to assume they need "this potion" or "this mask" to be compete against a class that requires nothing but a sanc potion to contend. Basically, I'm saying classes are fine- the gear isn't. Staff has said they're doing an equipment rebalance.. I'll wait to see what happens after that. But I don't think classes should have such easy access to the crap that elivates them past where they should be (barring a 1 in 50 chance or so... sometimes a super sword of smitery is just what the story calls for... but not every story. When did that human dude in teh lord of the rings get that super groovey sword? At the end? He didn't have the super sword of orc slayage all the way through the thing.)

Another way to take care of the equip issues... make items class only... it's readily explained through RP side (The creator of their potion has restricted Ninja's from imbibing it's hastifying attributes, go bother a battlemage/The gods frown upon one of your profession using this paltry sword of asswhoopery, you should have taken the profession of a Paladin if you figured you'd need a boost this big!/You're a vampire, Mya says you're overpowered enough as it is, you get to fight naked.)

How does that help full looting? Well, only people who won't "unbalance" the game when using the gear will have it. Ta-da.

Let's worry about the real issues now? I've been rolling a werebeast for two days... nothing acceptable yet. If I can't get max by 30 I'm not playing- and I'm not going to go adventurer anymore just to have 'decent' hp and mana by today's standards.

a-g

*every term of balance/unbalance is not my view. mostly.

that is magic ac, affl saves are tied DIRECTLY to invoker style spells.

Dam you...

It's no secret that Flamestrike effects are saved by AFF saves.

Weapons that make your eyes tear with smoke, save their blind effect with ...

Affliction saves.

I hate this, as it has the stupid effect of you needing AFF saves vs warriors or risk getting 2 hours incurable blind.

Warrior who wants to kill someone? Hit them with afflication damage (as mya claims).

Dude you're going to owe me a new laptop if you keep making me spit stuff on it.

You're a vampire, Mya says you're overpowered enough as it is, you get to fight naked.

Thats it dude... The spacebar has now stopped working... I'll send you my paypal in a PM.

EDIT: Ah, why cant healers teleport whilst blind?

I've always been against life insurance, period.

Get rid of it. You said pildo had that set since before you were inducted. This is what isn't right. If you die, and you hold alot of nice goodies, you should loose them. The victor deserved it.

Dey said it somewhere before, but I have the exact same stance. I am for doing away with LI, but damn if I'm not gonna use and enjoy every bit of it, while it's here.

EDIT: Ah' date=' why cant healers teleport whilst blind?[/quote']

Because they don't have teleport as a spell.

Of course, they can still do so, just as any other class can... to be honest, I have to agree with A-G that there are almost too many consumable effects that can be obtained by anyone.

red dragon/cloaks of dreamseeking/opal rings/titanium bracers were the standard re-equip set at 50 for evil melee's, and you could be pretty viable with that. that was before tainted valley, troll village, et all. red dragon was below val miran then too. sewers were magically relocated to miruvhor at some point.

winter gear was the ****. ice armor? crown of might? decked.

Those were the days

There should be an easy way, but hard way to fix this. What I'm saying is, make those small items more viable, and useful. Elemental bracelets? What, add +2 hitroll, or +10 more hp, or perhaps, hey, double plated helm? +2 more hitroll or +20 hp. Instead of dropping what the high eq gives, let's give all the eq below it a boost and make it more or less 'wantable' or useful. I know of muds where you can have up to 2400 hp without a raging ogre berserker. Why not push out battles a bit longer and give a higher hp ratio?

Just a few ideas.. here.

Man, you must REALLY want clerics to never die...

I like it how it is in terms of max HP levels... there's enough power both ways that you need strategy, but there's also the intensity of a single mistake or brilliant move at the right time resulting in either victory or death. I like knowing that nearly everything I do has to be right... crap tons of hp just gives everyone more of a security blanket.

Agreed, that's what cool about this mud. Everything is on a smaller scale so everything matters. Those 10 extra saves or that extra 100hp or a bit more hitroll etc...

My main annoyance with the current pinn situation is this; Yes, full loot/sac is a viable option, and if I take someone down who has given me/my cabal utter hell for a while, I am going to loot. But if the person in question has very little chance of killing me, or has gear that is not worth sacrificing, I am not gonna loot. If someone has nice gear, but put up very little fight, I am not gonna loot heavily, because what is the point?

To make them miserable, so they log off and never come back! Duh. I hate players. **** them.

To make them miserable' date=' so they log off and never come back! Duh. I hate players. **** them.[/quote']

Actually it is more like: make them miserable so they log off, then log on their lowbie and wait till you leave or until a few of their lvl 50 allies pop on then come back.

But that in and of itself is trashy as hell. Making a lowbie char to see when your enemies are not around is just bull. Flat out.

Heh. Who's that lowbie I always see that's like old as hell. Vingorde Krah. Avian lowbie that never does anything or ranks. I like to think he's doing what Emp Newb was talking about. If not, my B.

Yay for calling people out!

oh my GOD i hate what just happened. i had an epic-sized post and my internet crapped out on me..
