Dude.

syntax: fly

makes you fly.

syntax: land

makes you land.

Why would you ever not want to be flying?

Well, granted, I could see it for RP purposes... but aside from how you appear to the "look" command, you can easily emote your landing already (in fact, I had emotes for every faerie I've made for exactly this purpose)... besides, resting makes you not appear to be flying even to the look command.

Why would you ever not want to be flying?

Fighting the wight.

Monks fighting monks shouldn't fly.

Monks fighting monks shouldn't fly.

I disagree.

If Monk A is not flying, and Monk B wants to trip him, Monk B will effectively trip himself by lagging from using the command. Monk A will resist the trip with balance, and do other things like kick to outdamage monk B. Monk B in the meantime will keep trying to trip Monk A and only lag himself. Monk A will keep resisting with balance and outdamage Monk B who has triplocked himself.

Furthermore, If Monk B is flying, Monk A can airthrash him which is not resisted by balance and has some lag attached to it. Or, Monk A could chii bolt Monk B for lag to bypass airthrash and trip.

Mali 1, Mudder 0.

Are you serious? You fight monks with other monks while in defensive?

Hahaha!

Mali 0, Mudder -1

Mali, if Monk A is on the ground and fighting Monk B... balance only works in defense. If monk B is tripping monk A will either be in defense for balance or offense where he WILL be lagged. If he's flying he'll be lagged either way.

Mudder, fighting in defensive is a viable strategy in some situations against another monk. Just depends on your eq, if you know how he plays and if you know his current stance.

Yes. In some situations. Though for the most part, monk vs. monk, your best chance is to go offensive. I would use crane/tiger depending on my eq/cabal.

EDIT: How the hell am I -1? Psh.

No I was thinking offensive. Even if balance is nullified in offensive, they'll still be tripping you and you can still outdamage them with kick or even land a chii bolt to lag or to remove their armor and protections.

Monkey is best stance for fighting other monks. Especially with Fu Manchu kick.

Even if Monk B is tripping Monk A, The lag will be the same for both of them. Monk A still outdamages Monk B. Alternately, Monk A could dirt Monk B and Monk B will be blinded while trying to trip Monk A.

Two monks. Both offensive. Monk A dirt kicks monk B. Monk B kicks. Monk A trips monk B. Monk B loses sanctuary. Monk A keeps Monk B in lag-lock. Monk B dies.

Monk A was flying to prevent the same fate as monk B.

Mali was Monk B.

Monks can't laglock each other. Not unless the trip was augmented by a certain WM skill. A monk should only trip another monk as a closer or if their opponent is afk or linkdead.

Hmm idk, if it were me I'd only trip another monk if i was out damaging them in combat. Now I'm monk A and lets just say mali is monk B. A is doing more damage than B and is tripping. B is kicking, if I time my trips right you're going to be kicking less often making it less of a problem for me. It also means you might get stack happy and that'll take longer to go away, not to mention helping me keep you in combat if the fight is just about to end.

Edit: Why would you trip someone who's afk or linkdead? Just destroy them and get it over with, kick would be better in that situation.

On Halloween madness, Mudder and I are going to go Monk A to Monk B and we will see what happens.

I'm so excited, I've played here 6 years and I ALWAYS miss haloween madness for one reason or another. So far nothing's getting in the way this year.

That's only one possible scenario which assumes that his sanctuary is falling before your sanctuary. If you're both offensive and you're tripping, and his sanctuary isn't dropping so soon as that, then it's a matter of who is outdamaging who... which then boils down to EQ and choice of offensive stance.

you guys make monks sound so much fun. i guess i should stop playing rangers and try the other classes.
