Full Loot/Equipment Lists

I'd say that if this were to be implemented, the most that would be necessary would be to give locations of common items. That way if you get killed, and you happen to chance a look at your killer, you can see what they have and try to go and get it yourself, and see for yourself if it's good for you or not.

I guess it's all about personal preference on every scale. When I was an ubernewb' date=' I don't think I would have used that information to find those places. I am by no means a vet at all, but I still prefer to find things on my own in game. I remember getting gifted a fiery dagger from some ninja years ago and I was tearing up brownies in Emerald. This new wonder that was this fiery dagger lit up my world for a little bit, forced me to ask someone about it, then I found how to get it and then had access to all of the elemental canyon items. Sure they're not good at all, but it was as good as getting a pk, just figuring that place out. [b']So from the perspective of a newish player, I'm saying I agree with some of these vets. But again, there are people who like to learn every facet of a game, and there are people who want the eq lists so they can jump into the mix. I personally feel you're losing part of the experience by being ooc gifted the lists, but I also feel that it wouldn't be wrong to give newer players access to them.

The bolded parts summarizes how I feel about the situation. Besides the 'being newish' part.

It's the difference between the 'self-helps' and the 'please-helps'.

Video games are taking control of the world. Imagination is being given credit to things that don't require it. "Mom! I just killed this dragon with my sword of golden light and the screen exploded into a light of blue lightning and then the movie was AWESOME! It looked so real! I can't wait to tell my guild mates!" "Oh, my little Bobby's imagination is so vivid!"

And there is the problem. Call me crazy, call me a doomsayer, but imaginations are dying. Books aren't selling as well, video games are one of the few industries that haven't taken a sharp decline in the current economy (at least last time I heard about their shares, and I'm talking game publishers, not console makers).

Why does this affect FL? This game requires extreme amounts of imagination. Today's world is falling quicker and quicker into the "get rich quick" ideals, it's falling faster and faster into the "How quickly can I become a bad ***." scheme, and you know what? It sucks, but the world evolves like people.

Do I get pissed when someone asks for information that took me years of playing to figure out? Yeah, a little. I'm getting over it, because I realize that if this game is going to continue in the market of MUDs, then things HAVE to change.

MUDs are dying. Why play a game that is just some green or white text on a screen when you can have some Orc casting fireballs at the 90 foot flesh golem right before your eyes, pixilated in all their glory... and as easily as a double click away? Well, why do I do it? I was raised to imagine things, as most of you were.

Don't get me started on how MySpace and Facebook have ruined anyone younger than 20. But it all ties in together. We want the mud to continue, and we all worked hard to learn what we have about this game. The bitch? We're all getting older, players are leaving to start families, to find their greener pastures, or just have become played out. Why is that a bitch? We need new players. We're all used to 40 people on, 50 people on, hell, some of us? 70 wasn't uncommon.

But the new players we can get aren't going to dig this "Learn for yourself for two years before you have a fighting chance at 50." It sucks, it's a damn shame, and I hate it. I ****ing hate it. But that's the way the cookie crumbles. If you want to have your hardcore, gung-ho attitude about "harden up princess" and "Learn it on your own in the school of hard knocks" or whatever else is said, that's great. You can be playing here when there are two other players on. Maybe then you can be all the same alignment and raid winter with all the rares...

But, evolution says that if things are going to survive, they have to adapt to their environments. And the environment of online gaming has changed. Hell, muds started in what? The 80's? They've had a hell of a run. In computer years, MUDs are as broken as punch cards and ZIP drives.

I dunno. I say open up the information. Sure, the game loses some of it's flare, it's mystique, but in the end, the fun continues because there are more people to roleplay with, more people to kill, and more people to flame on the forums.

a-g

And why the hell is all of that true? Because it is...I have seriously rallied every one of my good friends to try this MUD because I have no personal friends that live within a reasonable drive away from me that play this game. All you guys are it. Why can't I even get my gamer buddies to jump in? Pretty much AG summed up everything wrong with why muds aren't more popular. People are lazy. People wanna see their fireballs and lightningstorms. But the funny thing is, for every story I've heard about Diablo, Halo, Counterstrike, I've come up with an FL related story that was much more riveting and interesting. Yet, they still don't care. It's text when they have to play it.

Some of my friends even WANT to play it, but won't because it's "too hard". Go figure.

I feel like the difference here is like the difference between people who use strategy guides and people who don't... and I find it very, very hard to want FL to have a strategy guide.

IMO Posting a list that has something along the lines of "Cloak of Dreamseeking - Miruvhor" and so on is not removing FL of its 'mystique' and 'flair'. We're talking about example non-rare resuits after a full-loot not posting databases with detailed identifications of every item in the game.

Sure, newer players can ask in-game for this sort of information, but it's not as effective as a list with some non-rare (non-rare!! [NON-RARE!!!]) equipment. Spoonfeeding you may think it, but not every player can be cut through the middle to reveal a cross-section of hardcore gaming flesh and catering a little to newer players that may need that extra hand isn't a bad thing.

So many players have invested so much time in learning the secrets and inner workings of this MUD and I can understand that players don't just want to start dishing out everything that they've learnt on a plate. Look at it in perspective though, a list with the general location of onyx/opal rings, teeth necklaces, titanium bracers, red dragon armour... can you honestly tell me it annoys you to be giving away this information?

Dey

Deykari. If you have a list and want to post it, then just go ahead and post it (no exact ID's please).

Dey

In game, not in the slightest, and in fact the reverse... I highly encourage this being done in game. On the forums... yeah, a bit.

This is the only format that I will find acceptable.

Non-Rares that do not have the Identification spell used:

For example.

Item: Onyx Ring

Slot: Worn on finger

Location: The Troll Village

Purpose: Hitroll - excellent for melees

Level: 15 and above.

Perhaps two quick sets of non-rare equipment. One for Melees and one for communer/casters.

My format is using the same information as Malch, but just set up a little differently. I'm only going to do melees, because while I know mage equipment, most of it comes from places that have changed names since I last played a mage - therefore I couldn't give accurate info. Also, some of the ID info may be lacking, because while I know in general what every thing does, I cannot pinpoint everything exactly.

This is what I could come up with off the top of my head, for the moment.

Two little things for 30 and under mages that I happen to like:

Blue Bracers (Crystalmir) and Mind Rings (Minoma).

EDIT: When I get some time (on the cell phone now), I'll post my usual 30 stuffs for both melee and c/c.

Err... how about Elite Elven Guard gear? That's what I usually use in the 25-30's.

EDIT: nevermind, it was rare.

EDIT: Some daggers:

Icicle (Elemental Canyon)

Fiery Dagger (Elemental Canyon)

Talon (White King Castle... don't know the exact name)

shiny steel boots add hp not dam I believe.

A little list which I made right now with my cleric. These are not all the items (rare or non rare) that you can find in these areas. All these areas are around Rheydin.

Kamir Caves

(Glowing) a guardian steel sword (hitroll, socketed) (you need to be above 25, maybe 30 to get it)

a gleaming steel bracer (hitroll, socketed) (you can get it at level 1)

Gasteride's Fortress

an axe made of mithril (at LEAST 25)

The Great Elf Valley (you can get all this stuff around level 10)

deer hide leggings (bonus con)

a set of fingerless work gloves (bonus str)

a scout's long spear (hitroll and damroll, if I am not mistaken - goods cannot wear it)

a deerhide buckler (hitroll)

braided leather ring (damroll)

deerhide tunic (savingaff)

Shasarazade

(Glowing) a Shasarazadean War Banner

a sturdy helm

a sturdy breastplate

a sturdy shield

a sturdy sword

some sturdy leggings

a Shasarazadean signet ring

an elite helm (bonus int, ac)

a set of Elite bodyarmor (bonus con, ac)

a Shield of Arms(bonus ac)

(Glowing) a glimmering steel sword (hitroll, damroll)

a set of steel leggings

--notice the amusing typos

Minoba

a Shield of Horns (damroll, bonus two-handed, shield block. Makes you wonder why this isn't a rare.)

Serpentine flail (damroll, hitroll, bonus poison ??)

a mind ring (bonus mana, savingmental)

a support sash (bonus hp, con)

Mountain Trail (you can get these items around 10-20, depending on your class/race, some are harder to get)

a teeth necklace (hitroll)

a fur jacket (bonus hp)

a pair of raw hide leggings (bonus dex)

throwing axe (damroll, hitroll) (pretty good axe)

a camouflage tarp (bonus dex)

a bear-skin cloak (bonus str)

(Humming) a bone-dagger (good aligned chars cannot wear it)

a traveler's hood

elbow pads (bonus con)

a cloth headband

Elemental Canyon

(Humming) the Shock Whip (lightning damage, damroll, drain str- eww)

(Glowing) a flame lance (staff, fire damage - hitroll, hp drain - eww)

(Glowing) an icicle (dagger, ice damage - damroll, drain str)

(Glowing) a fiery dagger (fire damage - damroll, drain str)

Serpentine flail (damroll' date=' hitroll, bonus poison ??)[/quote']

adds to the poison spell prof.

a Shield of Horns (damroll, bonus two-handed, shield block. Makes you wonder why this isn't a rare.)

It used to be a rare shield of Mahn Tor. But it was spiked (Shield Bash thing), and less useful. Minoa could use a further EQ revision.

For example the "Thick marble ring" non-rare was a gem for Meeles, as it had Hit/Dam and STR bonus.

The evil sword "nighbringer" and the good mace "Dawnbringer", also gone.

As a lot of other 30th's equipment.

Also the prices on the shop are expensive. If i died i can no longer head there and get a basic suit, i need to earn coin to buy some few items from a pricy shop. Althou the new rares are nice, the zone has lost a lot.

Are we allowed to list consumables too?
