Mali... keepin' it real since 1999.
I some time ago (yesternight? few days ago?) got this idea: Why not have LI so that it will protect anything non-rare (incl. cabal gear)? If you die, you don't have to gather just about everything.
How about you can only use LI if you are in an outnumbered situation?

Define outnumbered situation?
make cabal gear owner items, and raise the cost a little bit.
remove LI completly.

Make the cabal-gear you bought burnproof, and only a limited group can do anything at all about them.

A problem with this is that, in many cases, only a couple pieces of cabal gear are applicable to any one race/class. Cabal gear that benefits one sub-cabal is no use to members of the other sub-cabal, for example. Or Knight/Nexus gear that benefits melees is useless to Communers/Casters.
The cost of LI could be made to be based on your rank within the cabal. I = 100/200, M = 150/300, V = 250/500, T = 350/700, etc...cap it at 500/1000 for L

These are things, you would of course, have to fix in order to apply such a system.
I do, however, believe that making it so a partial suit of neato restringable cabal gear was earnable with significant time investment...many many people would try for it. Who wouldnt want the nexus reaver gear? or the watcher stalker full suit. You could apply set bonus' to the items, as well as more sockets to allow for customization. Add color to the items, make them do random emotes like smolder and such. Flare, bright and pretty to look at with stats to boot.
Make it all owner only, and up the cost. 3500cp for a breastplate thats owner only, burnproof...have some rings, shoulders, leggings, a mask, and thats the "set". Make the entire set cost like 15k cp in the end. This creates something people can aim for that cannot be looted or destroyed, a permanent thing...and of course, remove LI completly.

I'm going to go ahead and give this a HUGE +1.
That would simply give the caballed another advantage over the uncaballed, the vet player another advantage over the newby (who will have the cp?).
Thus the gap would be even larger. Not something we intend to do.

As to that. Couldn't we have it to where the Merchants could create similiar gear for uncaballed for a cost? That would give EVERYONE access to said gear without making it a product for the elite. And it would help the merchants have another angle on the scheme of the world.
Just spitballing here. Don't understand the merchant cabal really. It's on my list. ![]()
Really who does not join a cabal anyway?
I realize that there are sometimes characters with no cabal, and characters with no CP, but the merchant thing would fix that IMO. (I agree, pretty much everyone gets caballed anymore, but still, it is a point on how this would work.)
I mean, is gold tedious to rack up? Sometimes. But you can still get it.
I don't know, maybe it would completely imbalance the game. But at the same time I think it would lessen the chore of either running around all over looking for gear or the disappointment of someone with all the gear you want just logging off in your face.
Edit: And we're talking about owner only stuff, so getting it a piece at a time over the course of a few months wouldn't be a horrible deal, because when you finish it out. It's YOURS.

shrugs I often don't intend for my characters to join one.
you often dont stay more than a few weeks as well Pali.
Hehe, true enough. ![]()
Not trying to down on you, but I think the overall feel of FL is pretty much every char goes and joins a cabal. It is just the progression of life in this brutal place.
I like the idea of making cabal gear much more expensive, and permanently owner only, that is a fantastic idea. You spend ALOT but get rewarded for it, combine that with the things merchants can do, and you have the chance for ALOT of customization.

Didn't think you were. ![]()

If we count out Merchant, I propably wouldn't be joining a cabal. But future is always uncertain, you never know...
