CP costs for locate

Just like people who hunt weak characters very aggressively (especially with weak RP geared only to force the fight with those people) and log off against/ignore tough ones all the time. It makes your pk record a pile of mush and discredits you OOCly as a person. If you roll over somebody' date=' you should be finding excuses to NOT multikill them, not the reverse.[/quote']

I really like what you said here. Some game mechanics however I think should be looked into because they contradict the last statement or at least make it very rough on some. I.e. Auto full loots on Outlaws, extended duration of Sader skill once you kill said victim.

Ok, Erana, lets try to stay on topic, or i'll shut this thread down

So, you are right Kyzarius, you can probably get away with it usually. Just like you can get away with making punk/trash characters. For the sake of the game and your personal ethics, we can only hope that you have better taste than that.

you missed the point.

The point is you have a situation where it is very easy for a character who is not cheating at all to be misconstrued as cheating. Then they get summoned to the deep **** room and their personal character is questioend.

Just like you did to mine just now, merely for discussing it.

Staff should be here to support the pbase, not to find newer ways/reasons to punish and interrupt the game experience.

Upon reading my choice of wording, I should have been clear I was talking about the vague hypothetical person that would do something like this, not anyone in particular, and of course not implying you would actually do any of those things.

no worries, I know you didnt mean any personal affront.

You are taking things to seriously.

Anume stressed so much that it is illegal, only because it is very hard to be proven and I guess she simply replies on the fear factor.

Erana did basicly the same thing.

In reality though, this is very hard to prove, unless of course you don't do it in a very blatant and obvious way i.e. the situation which Anume described. And if you are that stupid/arrogant to do it, then you simply deserve to be punished. Hard.

Something being frowned upon (i.e something that isnt breaking the rules but the IMMs will waste your time because of their personal opinion)

vs

Rule breaking

Frown all day as far as I'm concerned. I will locate anything I want to locate while on my mages, the information lets me help many people, including myself, and if some things are still there when one of my other chars puts together an EQ trip an hour or two later that benefits more than just me....I will take the stuff. Not breaking any rules by doing so, it is extremely common for 50s to go to steel, discord, etc. Locating items or not, I'm clearing those areas once a week. The eq would have been found when my char took the group there anyway. Hypothetically anyway, since I'm done playing here.

If you want to make something a rule, then do it. But don't be lame and just have a grudge against someone because they logged off a char, went downstairs and got a glass of milk and used the bathroom, then came back up stairs and logged on but that only took 7 minutes instead of 15 minutes and now they are a bad egg.

Hypothetically anyway, since I'm done playing here.

Having dejavu...

They make medicine for that I think.

In reply to The additional points about punishing people who log off.

See here is the thing, as imm's you do not know WHY I might log off. Though you seem to think the only reason I might do so is to avoid a fight. Which is an assumption, a destructive one more than less. Not only is it an insult to my character, this is a damn game, and If I want to log off because I need to and I meet the log off requirements I Can.

I recently (recently being 3 - 4 weeks ago) was punished on vibbletick for logging off, and it was because I logged off when Slinore logged in. Now Slinore and I had fought dozens of time leading up to this, and dozens leading away from it. With victory going back and forth just as often. Yet I log off once or twice because I am unable to focus on an intense battle, and I get punished?

Tell me, what GOOD does this do for the game? I tell you what it DID do, it pissed me off. Here I am playing a game, and because I have more pressing matters I get punished in the game for it?

I see this as a two-fold problem. One, your insulting me and anyone else who you say has "quesitonable character" because they log off and you ASSUME it is to avoid a fight. Two, as imms you are spending your time focusing on ways to punish, and viewing players as criminals that need to be "watched". Not as the last assets of a dieing gaming medium.

The solution, on this issue?

Well the game ALREADY HAS a very strict login/off mechanic. You cant log out after logigng in for a period of time, and you cannot log out for a period of time following any altercation. If a player meets the requirements for logging off, where they can type quit and exit the game. Then they have every right to do that anytime they want to. Dont add to the mechanical sysem "you can log out, but you have to rely that an immortal isnt of the opinion that you cant log out" you do this, and your impeding on the freedoms of your users.

Who do the imms think they are, that you can judge people for how they behave in a game? Then control when they can and cannot depart from it? No other game out there priod tries to do this (muds included). All this will do is take people who are already feeling a need to log off, not want to log back in.

Re Kyz: first off, chill pill. Nobody eats anyone for logging off ONCE or TWICE, what we do not like to see is patterns.

If we see someone logging off JUST TO LOG ON ANOTHER CHARACTER, that obviously means it was not a real life or time issue. They did it to avoid a hard fight / to get an easy kill / etc. If we see this A LOT, again, not just once or twice, we will step in.

Re MMA: byebye.

This thread is now closed.

I generally make it a habit to stay on LONGER than I usually should (such as pulling an allnighter) just to fight that big bad-***. Most recently, Thulgan. I sat at V in Tribunal for 80-90 hours or so, and I fought a lot of people.

Unfortunately for me, most of my captures were on Watchers (as they should have been) and not once against Thulgan, or two very well equipped magic-resistant blademasters, or a slith-thief tailored to fight only me, or that random werebeast who beat on me while I parried 0/shield blocked 0 of his attacks.

But, although I sort of felt put off by Erana's recent comments (because well, I felt guilty in some of those aspects) I'd also like to point out sticking around was one of my forefronts for pretty much all of my characters to attain some sort of success.

I just couldn't do it with a Fire Giant Shaman

Not sure how all of this got misconstrued and brought off topic, but that was my little tangent. As far as CP costs for locate, I completely agree that it should -STAY- the way it is, if not gain more of a restriction for locating corpses, and/or INCREASING CP cost. If you're someone who relies on no mages (and hates mages, for whatever RP it is) why should you gain the advantage of having locate? Ah well.

Wasn't referring to Suueh about logging out, he wasn't one of those I was thinking about at all.

I would say that Ugresh really put you to shame though by keeping rebounding even after taking many landslide deaths with a great attitude IC and OOC. You took a few and went poof out of frustration.

I'm not sure if you wrote that part about your hours because you expected T in that time frame or not....

Hey, I already closed this thread! Now Erana, you have to decide if you want to keep posting as Erana, or if you want to post as Anume. It's kind of weird to keep switching names like that. Just pick one and i'll shut the other down.

Yeah. He wasn't fighting a thousand opponents either.

And the frustration came from:

  1. Having no allies.

  2. Having very little Erana interaction.

No offense to you, I know you were THERE, I just like a lot of interaction from my Cabal IMMs to know I'm "headed" in the right direction. Amaruil is a very good example of this. Although he was wizinvis a good amount of Istendil's life, I still got that random interaction from him over CB or him popping in and chastizing me for something I didn't do right.

We should rename the title of this thread or something.. hahaha.

I feel ya.
