Raid-Like EQ Changes

If you are talking about Klemsor logs...

No offense to anyone who plays invokers but...

Dispel/Hellstream spamming is NOT playing an Invoker properly. There are SOOOO many invokers who do this (granted it is effective in a lot of cases) but it is not impressive and is not utilizing the class to the best of its ability.

That being said....I don't see any log of any invoker vs Thulgan that the Invoker really showed mastery of the class.

Completely agreed. Dispel/hellstream is good when they clearly lag themselves. Or, if they have LOW saves. Hellstream is much more easily saved against than say ice storm or call lightning. Not to mention flurries of vuln targetables (jet steam/icicle/flame arrow) that are easier to chase with. (ie if you chase with ice or call and miss, it still lags you instead of 'that person isn't here')

What are your opinions on the EQ change I've suggested Twinniecakes?

If this equipment change goes into effect, +spell level has to go or be incredibly reduced.

However, I also would like to point out that if ANYONE can have a full suit of adeptus and we end up with over half the PB in different forms of God Suits, we either need to decrease aspects of the God Suits (in such a manner that number crunchers cannot piece a new suit together with combinations that still make it insane) or, and this method I prefer, boosting the stats of the lower level equipment to make them more "viable". Don't ask about the air quotes. The word just feels like it has too much meaning to not have air quotes.

A few suggestions: Mprogs (shocking, blood loss, etc...) for lower level equipment. Greater AC for lower level equipment. Greater Hitroll. Greater Damroll. Just, whatever would set it apart from the God Suits, but make it crazy better in some way than a couple pieces of a God Suit. Add to this that a full suit of, say mithril is a common example, grants some crazy extra bonus. God Suits pieces tend to be all around awesomness individually for the most part.

I like this "raid" idea. I like the idea of unlimited quantity. I just don't like the fact that this could potentially create issues of gear on a greater scale and want to hear some thoughts on how to head this off before I completely jump on board with this idea.

How about we simply increase the frequency of rare purges? Every 2 weeks instead of month would help a lot. You could also raise the required amount of online time to avoid being rare purged so folks aren't just logging on once a week for an hour or so to keep their insane equipment that they're never online long enough to lose.

I like that idea too, it was presented by me in the past and shot down.

As said before, some big problems with more frequent purging. How many hours do we want to make people dedicate to the game? What if you go on a trip or change your internet? A month is a good length to balance out RL issues.

The problem isn't so much that the players with the great EQ aren't around. It is more that they have such a hard time dying, I would say. You can find almost all of the great gear online every couple days or so.

A month is also a big window to sneak in a lot of time quickly and then disappear for 3/4 of the month

How about institute a flag in which a player can send an OOC note to immortal or a note on the prayer forum in which they can explain any RL issues and their characters can be put on hold for X amount of time (up to a month), otherwise, their gear goes bye-bye.

It's simpler to keep the purge system as is. It's fairly balanced time wise and the majority of players are now over 25 and have a family, a career, attend college, and/or work full time jobs. Any combination of these two can kill playing time beyond what anyone should be willing to dedicate in these situations to a game.

It's simpler to not go to the hospital when you have a broken leg, but people still do it. I'm just saying that there's a happy medium somewhere in between what we have now vs what we could potentially have. I think that the rare purge time limit needs to be reduced. I'm 24 and have a career/fulltime job etc and I still find enough time for the game to log a few hours a week (at a bare minimum). Career/life or not, someone with a ridiculous godsuit shouldn't be able to keep it by logging a couple hours once a month. They're just stealing valuable ingame experience and knowledge away from more dedicated players imho.

I like the original idea posted in this thread.

Could have some sweet super-duper sweet items that respawn only once a year!?

YYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The balance that this brings to the 50 game would be tremendous.

As I mentioned before, too - +spell_lvl eq is kinda ridiculous since warriors have nothing of equal value.

How about introducing +weapon_dmg eq?

Spell level eq is very hard to obtain and every piece of it is unique so not more than 2 characters can have it, maybe even one.Do not speak of it like it is found on the ground.A warrior can requip himself with ease, while a mage find it quite difficult.Warriors vs mages I can even say that warrior classes have the upper hand. The only thing that I do not like of the rare purge system is that still tolerates the shelved characters, now there is a character that has things for my class, which I need and I have never seen him on, while at the same time I am quite active. We all have families, friends or work outside the game but since it is our hobby, we must find somewhat time for it.Those that cannot play simply don't deserve their god suit, if they find the time they will log in and reequip again, there are cabal outfits now too which are not bad.

spell lvl eq is not that hard to get.

dragon of unlife is tricky....but every other piece is easy to get.

I can understand the pain of some people, but I don't understand why just because they can get to pinn and fully train their character in 1 week, then spend another week there they think they deserve the best EQ in the game. And I don't understand why they think they deserve it more than some other character who's been around for longer and has generally achieved more.

FL is not about activity, it is about consistency, persistence, longеvity and patience.

If you are persistent you will eventually dress yourself.

This thread seems like a deja-vu btw

It isn't deja-vu. As I stated in that thread - I have no problems getting decked. I'm trying to help everyone else out.

Oh yeah, I forgot you are the messiah.

A common mistake, I forgive you.
