Training Changes

Resurection on a non elf. Although spells would be easier to train if Savants controlled more land.

With an elf ranger I found insect swarm to be a bit of a monster as well. And with a 25 int, and pinned, one would think it would have been faster.

I will give it more thought because I know there are a few others I have hated in the past.

Seriously? How can you possibly have so much wrong in a single post?

You need to rank more mages.

Necros can solo pretty easy.

It's solo + alsatian, till rank 15.

Then you get a L15 stone golem and head to emerald.

Keep upgrading the pet while you have the stone Tank Dryads and Nymphs, you cast blind.

At the moment you attain Rank 25, BOOM.

You start tanking with Vampiric Touch.

At 28 Acid blast serves as damage dealer when you are not healing.

At 30 you have 4 charmies.

As soon as you can head towards the Caverns.

Civilians are great to Rank on.

At about 45 things get really slow. But then Guild Quests give a lot of XP.

Of course all this with AC + HP gear. Which is not hard to find in OfCol. Early HP trains also aid.

Having just ranked a necromancer, I can say with no small sense of security that if I was forced to solo rank I would shoot myself in the face, delete, and promptly roll an ogre ranger to take out my frustrations on everyone else.

But hey, good luck on that "tanking with vampiric touch" thing.

OK

Low level mercenaries suck. Hp, tanking, and hit wise.

Tanking with one defense? Really?

landing blind on the enemies you need to fight when ranking is not like dirt kick

4 charmies? Your saying 2 golems, merc, zombie. You cannot get flesh golem til mid thirties I think Mya. So your capped at 3 pets.

And you cannot effectively rely on a spell as a tool til at least 3-4 levels after you get it. Level 28 necro might be lucky to get off 8 acid blasts before their mana is gone.

So you have given instructions on how to effectively gain maybe 1800 experience

I solo-ranked (more or less) with my necromancer to 40. I'm not overly keen on questing either. I deleted the necro due to actually disliking the class though.

Dey

Who the **** are you

I can solo rank anything. Necromancers can be done, if you have the time. And it will take some time. Suggestion for someone wishing to try it, adventurer perk, drow or illithid. Any c/c class always has the free exp from spell training, if the spell is new (meaning 50+ mana to cast), then it will pay great experience upon losing concentration. I have ranked invokers into their thirties from the teens just by masteing high cost spells. And once those spells are mastered, ranking alone becomes much easier.

(edit)And Dey, welcome home.

And don't forget to master early your defensive skills:

Parry

Weapon (staff)

Hand to Hand

and promptly roll an ogre ranger to take out my frustrations on everyone else.

Didn't you just try that, but it didn't quite work?

PS. I recently did the same thing Dey posted about. Necros are easy to rank.

And Mya, you can get the stone golem at level 10, not 15.

So what if I'm cheep. I'm not paying for a new one at Rank 15. Untill then I farm Snail with the Alsatian.

You don't have to.

What and keep an outdated model. I think not.

you can actually get a stone golem at level 5 via scroll in Xymerria.

you cannot cast the spell til 15.

Actually, shop limitations to purchase is the item level.

Scrolls limitation to reciting them is the actual level.

But you cannot cast spells higher than your level.

(Which is stupid, as it makes all L50+ spells from scrolls = to L50)

Just to say that if you can buy at Rank 5 you can recite it at rank 5.

Getting a L5 Stone Golem.

I have to agree with Mya on this one... necros are pretty capable of solo ranking, certainly moreso than bmgs and invokers (pre-mana shield, anyways). Flesh golem you get at 20, stone in the low 30s (either 31 or 33, can't recall), and smart zombie choices give you a lot of damage dealing power while smart charmy management will have them be taking the front line more often than the necro himself does.

Solo ranking a necro is slow and annoying until 28 - vamp touch, acid blast and animate corpse change that.

Idk I think training is just a pain, period, unless you're high int/wis race, then its an annoyance. I think random plus 1-3%, dependent on luck, int/wis, to the most used skills/spells that level would be sufficent to make training easier.

Actually, I am seeing a trend. IMO the easiest way to get skills/spells to go up, is to do what you should be doing. RP your rear off. If you stop RPing, even to go train, you deny yourself a vital chance for a little help from above. The current staff is "on the ball", simply play ball, and you will have a ball.

Major props to the Immortals.

Sincerely.

I'm all about rp'ing, even when training, and I have had a bit of imm interaction, or just sitting around solo rping during cabal armies. But the imm exp skill bonus deal, well, from my understanding, you just get the skill/spell improvements -at- 50. pre 50 its exp. And it helps, and is completely awesome. But its also not as helpful as a 1-3% skill raise per level. And by only improving two or three most used skills, no one is going to be a master by the time hit 50 so its not a gods war deal. It just helps, pcs and imms, its hardcoded, and I think its relatively easy to code, from my understanding. Although I am by no means a coder

-ranger staff

-insect swarm

Stake, if I ever found a way I'd train it.
