FROST

General
FROST

History:
Unlike the other giant races of Aabahran the frost giants are a scarce and
enigmatic people. Throughout history travelers have seen their kind in
places such as Winter and Dischord, however few attempts at diplomacy have
been made to or by these cold-hearted giants.

Long ago the frost giants lived as a single nomadic tribe that made their
homes wherever the weather was cold enough to settle. Their leader was a
Chieftain determined by trials of combat. The Chief would handle all aspects
of Frost Giant culture from determining where they would settle, to hunting
grounds, and most importantly targets for their raids.

Over time a schism grew within the tribe. Members were torn along the lines
of those who wanted to stay true to their tribal ways, and a growing faction
that wanted to split and create a new form of more orderly leadership. The
two parties became known as the Traditionalists and the Reformers.

The Night of Red Snow marked the climax of the rift in the tribe. The
Chieftain was killed, assassinated as he slept. The Reformers took
responsibility for the murder and a full scale civil war broke out. Many of
the strongest Traditionalist giants named themselves the new Chief, though
without the trials of combat being held few of the tribe elders backed these
self-proclaimed Chieftains. They were quickly dispatched in combat or found
themselves assassinated as well.

After months of civil war a final stand was made by the Traditionalists.
They fortified their encampment in Winter. They held the walls against the
onslaught of the Reformer forces for days on end. As dawn broke on the sixth
day of the siege the Reformer forces ended their assault. They took their
members and began The March of Frozen Footprints south toward Dischord.

Appearance:
Like the other giants of the lands the frost giants tower above most of the
other races. While they dwarf most humans in height, they are yet taller
still than the Ogres and Minotaurs. Frost giants are known to be the most
rotund of the giants. Their muscle mass often hidden beneath layers of fat,
suited to the cold environments that they inhabit. Their skin is often
shades of blacks, blues, and grays, though white is also not uncommon. Their
hair is most often either white or black, and some giants are covered from
head to toe with similarly colored fur.

Hometown:
Frost giants who leave their tribes most often find themselves in Miruvhor
or Maelbrim. The tribes themselves are located in Winter and Dischord.

Society:
The two tribes of frost giants are split in their society between the mostly
chaotic Northern Tribe, and the more lawful Southern Tribe. The Northern
Tribe still follow their ancient tribalistic ways. They are still led by a
Chieftain. The Southern Tribe has a more open social system. Elders and
important tribe members such as soldiers, crafters, and farmers all have a
say in the decisions of the tribe.

Religion:
The frost giants have no common religion between them. Neither the tribes
nor family lines have any specific gods that they worship. Frost giants are
free to find their preferred deities, however their violent tendencies often
lead them toward the religions of Death and Chance.

Relationships with Other Races:
Very few instances of encounters with frost giants have been documented.
Most of the races know of them only through first-hand accounts of their
raids, or have heard through song and story of these accounts.

Frost giants who leave their tribes have been known to form bonds and
relationships with those who share common interests and goals. They are
known to have a general dislike of the storm giants, who they refer to as
salt giants. It is known that there are no ties between the Northern Tribe
and the Southern Tribe, with meetings often resulting in bloodshed.

Physical Adaptations:
Frost giants have adapted to the cold climates that they call home. Their
bodies are acclimated to these low extremes, and they have become experts of
using the cold to deal damage, though they are vulnerable to fire and heat
sources of damage. As frost giants are so robust, they have resistance to
physical attacks, but their minds are weak to mental attacks. Their natural
size makes them adept at using two handed weapons, enhancing their damage,
and bashing and bodyslamming their foes which also sometimes inflicts cold
damage.

Frost Giants can be the following classes:
Warrior, Cleric, Berserker, and Dark Knight
