How about Niche pkers, and rank sitters, get some type of punishment. A dumb title, loss of a skill, a slay. I have pinned 3 characters in the last month or so. ALL three chars have had to fight the same character. No rp other than "Im billy badass, im gonna kill you." and when I try to hint that they should rank? "Your scared cause Im billy badass". It UTTERLY infuriates me when I see this going on. Im not one to pk sub 42 MOST of the time, unless they are begging for it. What are you supposed to do when the same person interrupts your hunts, your quests, and your enjoyment by niche pking?
Hey here is an idea.
This is the problem with the three week app wait on undead/demon/vamp. They are there forever, and well after they should realize they failed their app they keep trying. In my opinion, apps should be accepted or denied on the spot by the imm responsible. Does this mean auto demon? No, but it could mean the player could rank a little more (say 42) without being turned. How about making these level sitters sit at a higher level... 42, so they're in range of the 50s. That way if they wanna be a badass they can drop the 50's. And ya' know what? Maybe a taste of getting raped by the real badasses might force them to RP first.

First, who the hell pins 3 characters per month? o.o I think that might be a large part your problem. If you pinn faster than most people and repeatedly pinn characters over and over again, then yeah, you're going to run into the same characters over and over again at low levels.
Although much of the game is at 50, the game DOES still exist for pre-50's. If someone is rank sitting at one rank for a long time without moving and has an abnormally high PK count, they'll be spoken to. But, believe it or not (and I say this not condescendingly, but in a happy, hopeful way), there are people who PK at low ranks because they feel they need the practice before jumping up to 50.
In concluding, I would recommend you play the damn characters instead of just ranking them. ![]()

In your specific case, the character in question is ranking up (albeit very slowly), and does not exactly have a high PK count. I statted them.

One was Vhulstod, and he got multi killed by Nexus.
One was Daryghaz, I suck with bmgs.
One IS a char I want to play, but has some EXTREMELY crappy bugs right now that prevent me from playing him.

I can understand app chars. THis is NOT an app char that provoked this post
chuckle... 3 chars in a month?
Here is a better Idea.
Roll a fire zerk and camp at lvl 10, kill anyone who enters pk range with no description.

I do not really want to perpetuate this, I would rather see it somewhat rectified.

Rarely - Rarely - do I read something online that actually makes me laugh audibly. This was one of those times. Why? Yes, it was funny, but more importantly because it is a brilliant idea. Absolutely brilliant. And I wish I had the balls to do it.

the game sort of existed pre-50 about 2 or 3 years ago, back when there were players. now your qrace/class applicant r e a l l y has to niche PK. but trying to make some change over this is sort of like trying to make a Federal law demanding that convenience stores sell free food to the homeless. the players need to be there in the first for applicants to show their worth.
a somewhat similar situation is plaguing the DK class and malform feeding. no change can cure that. if a qclass/race solution is to be found, it would be the applicant judging be more RP than PK, and i suspect the solution has already been silently implemented in some cases.
Well, considering (I think it was Anume) stated that pre-50 apps are more based on rp for consideration, pk is not a big deal. However, when I find myself in that situation, I like to pk groups of people hunting. I find it really makes it a challenge. To be honest though, if we are really going to consider this, we might as well remove pk from being pre-50... then along those lines, remove anyone non-50 from being able to hold/wear rares.
Hehehe
Sorry to make you go through all the trouble of writing that note and creating this thread. I'm just doing my job as a thief. Not to mention I have gained a few titles since we last met as your other character a week or so ago. I am going to stay at 38 until I master EVERY skill the gods have given me, and I am hoping to be accepted into my cabal soon as well. I guess if I didn't have people angry with me, I wouldn't be a good thief.

I dislike training thieves, but I enjoy the rewards

Mastering skills means sitting somewhere remote and avoiding PK. Let's not pretend we're all saints, please.
That being said if you are really worried send a note to Immortal and put a well worded (read: not abusive) post on prayer and it will be looked into. Nasty punishments can and do happen to players who niche sit PK.
Low lvl PK is not about skill - usually its about which class has their skills fastest (acid blast, fireball etc) or who managed to jack a rare suit from a pit that a lvl 50 was sitting at. Those that feel big because of it almost always get sorted out quick, fast and in a hurry at lvl 50. I've seen it time and time again.

So umm, master your skills. Stop picking fights. Fight at pinn (but you might wanna start over on another character).
Low lvl PK is not about skill...
Two possible exceptions I can think of: when you are the weaker class/rank, when you are going up against numbers who are expecting you. These situations require skill for victory.
They're also way more fun because of it.
Or you're Deykari.

I'd daresay that pre-50 pk is a different skill than 50 PK. 50 PK is about hitting a power peak (cabal + race + class + eq selection)...the skill is in choosing that power peak combo and getting the eq...the actual PKing is fairly skillless.
Pre-50 is much more about class skill tactics and making do without all the perks of (power peak--mostly cabal powers). Everything has a much greater effect (aka much less cushion for wasting moves, not much gold, etc)...so it becomes a battle of finesse. Sure, rank advantage + eq advantage (usually the qrace applicants who had time to gather that eq) will result in rollovers...but I think that happens much more at 50 than pre-50.
I agree with Celerity, most of my PK on 30th's range are usually to skill and tactic. Not EQ, or spell mastery.
I remember one time i was ranking a Elven Cleric in Centaurs and a Human Cleric Demon applicant came for me. She almost caught me from surprise but i moved around a bit, and she somehow made the Commander Agro her. Probably with calm.
I then started to summon her to the Commander and she died. I was almost naked.
Another time, I was a Drow Cleric in 30th range, and had something big against a certain Fire Zerker. I think he had 2 rounded me.
I managed to gather a shock whip from elemental canyon and some crap AC/HP gear. And went ahead and managed to kill him. It was not my superior equipment or spells that saved me. It was tactics and experience.

I'm not claiming to be a saint by any means, but its not like I just sit in Val waiting for people to come into town and kill them. For the most part I am off training, but if I happen to cross someone when I go to get more milk or buy aprons, I will most likely knock them out and steal a few things. I haven't even killed many people, attacked quite a few, yes, but not killed. I was also under the impression that 35 and up was where PK was not frowned upon. Forgive me if I was mistaken. I don't want to ruin the game for anyone or make you all angry.
