I concur.
Change ideas
Wow. This is probably the best idea I've seen in a long time. This would solve the problem we have now with immature or angry players ruining the quality of this mud. Immortals if my 8 years of playing here account for anything I beg of you to please take this idea into consideration.
Only if they are published in the RP section.
I can only imagine a few cocktails and reading those death rants!
Warrior lore changes.
Add more skills for warrior Lore. Generalist lores.
For example Behead. This would be an Awesome Warrior lore selection.
Mounted Combat, another very interesting W. Lore.
Also, giving warriors two picks at warriors Lore would be very good, as almost everyone always go for the flavor of the semester.
Being backcutter in the past, and now Weaponlock.
why do warriors need a boost again? I've seen plenty who can already hand me my *** regularly..

Maybe so that they can hand you your *** even more regularly. ![]()
I had this idea recently:
What if the land randomly generated specific orbs. Some would prevent exp loss, or cut it in half. Some would make you spawn where you die, some would prevent 3 random rares from being lost. The items would either be held in your inventory, or used as a floatie, not sure which yet. Im sure you guys could expand upon it this idea, but it would add a bit of flavor, as well as giving uncabaled chars a chance to hang on to at least a few pieces of gear if they die. I think the idea has potential, just needs refinement.
a vendor that sells some nice items for starstone.
a vendor that sells some nice items for starstone.
Now that is a good idea.
I think it would be nice if when you browsed an object in a shop, how much strength required to use it would be known. You are close enough to determine how thick the armor is, why not how strong you need to be?
Remove rolling from the game. The problem is that rolling takes a long time, sometimes, and removes people from the game that could otherwise be playing and enjoying their time. When a new player comes to FL they have no idea what constitutes a good roll (as most do not read the forum, regardless of how much a website tells them). And if they do, they're told "anything about 45", which is not decent enough to compete.
When we play, we get attached to characters. Imaging getting attached and then realized that your Dwarf Warrior's Con of 16 is not that much to brag about. And then to realize you've put 50 hours into your character.
What does rolling bring to FL? If it were a matter of skill to get the best roll, then great. But all it is, currently, is a matter of luck and wasted time. The game is not balanced around rolling, so what do I suggest?
Take the max roll of the race, and then give that to the player. An Elf will max at 54, so give them those points to attribute. A feral at 55, good, give that to them. Then they still have to attribute what they've got as they progress. Storm, Fires, Stones, Ogres, they all max at one and can use their trains to go into skills. Or, if all players are given max stats to begin with, the trains go into HP and Mana and Moves, and then it becomes more of a customized end game. "Gee, do I want to put all 14 trains into hp? Or mabye move so I can run further faster...."
Also, this could lead to further changes with lives. Con drops after awhile. What about putting in to where 60 lives isn't con death, but a drop below a racial level in con kills them for good? A faerie could take a con of 4, while an ogre 19? This is a minor point, in my idea. But, rolling is a pain in my butt ![]()
And I just don't see what it adds to the game, or how it balances or unbalances the game.

seconded. I've been thinking exactly what A-G just said for years... rolling is pointless, and newbs definately don't get it or understand it. I remember my first character... i took something like a roll of 42 on a human necro.. i was demoned on that same character somehow.. but I had no clue what was going on with trains and stats and crap. You can imagine how disappointing it is to put a bunch of work in, only to eventually find out you need a rolling trigger to get max rolls, and basically need to scrap an entire character because you have 15 con at level 50. Needless to say.. i ditched that character at around level 43 after I figured it out... now I just let zmud roll for hours, wasting my time to get that max roll.
Today a thief blackjacked a vulture that was flying overhead in Falen Dara. I was wondering...how the hell would this happen unless the thief was flying himself, or the vulture landed?
EDIT Lucky throw, I guess?
Dude, everyone knows vultures don't fly. They're tiny amphibious landmasses the crawl upside down and drink lemonade. ![]()
Guys, stop being such nerds....
Alright, I was thinking long and hard about Archer rangers, and missile immunity scrolls (which essentially make the entire path useless against any class with the scrolls skill.) I would like to propose the idea of making missile immunity scrolls ONLY negate the damage of the arrows, and not the effect the arrows have.. ie; flaming arrows would still have a chance to blind, sleepy to sleep, etc, etc.. just no damage from the arrow through the shield. This would keep things exactly the same for all fired weapons classes except archer rangers. Warriors would still lose the added damage of their bows, but rangers would be able to utilize the effects of their arrows still, thus lessening the impact those scrolls have against that particular path. I think that's a win win situation in the case of the supporters of the scrolls, and the rangers who get totally screwed because of them. Anyway.. yeah, my two-cents after 160 hours as an archer ranger ![]()
I'd also like to add, that if you take into account every skill an archer ranger gets for that path. Rapid fire, fletchery, bowyer, and marksman. All four are completely nullified by missile immunity. Simply due to the fact that it makes fired weapons completely useless for it's duration. In a worst case scenario, I'd like to see that the scrolls get made more expensive. You pay 50,000 gold for an orb of dragonkin which grants flight.. yet complete and utter invulnerability to missile attacks costs only 10,000 gold. As I said before with over 160 hours in an archer path ranger, I have only encountered a handful of people who will fight me without the scrolls, so the arguement that gold takes time to acquire and the scrolls are not limitless in supply, is moot. I might also add, that the people who do fight me without the scrolls, fight without them by choice either a distaste for how gimping they are to the archer rangers, or they simply do not feel the missiles are a threat. I have yet to encounter the player who does not use them 'because they are too expensive'. And often I do inquire when I find someone capable of using the scrolls, who doesn't.
Another possible solution, is to make the marksman skill give the ability to negate missile shield. As archer rangers are the only ones who get this skill, and as the pinnacle skill for the archer path, SHOULD be much stronger imho ![]()
Perhaps it would be better if that scroll reduces the damage done by arrows by 50%(???), not just for archers but for anyone who could use fired weapons?
You pay 50' date='000 gold for an orb of dragonkin which grants flight.. yet complete and utter invulnerability to missile attacks costs only 10,000 gold.[/quote']
It is worth noting that the orb has many, MANY charges. The scroll has one.
I agree, those scrolls can be quite annoying, however, you are a ranger. It should not take long to realize they have the missile shield up, if they do, see how long it is for and wait. Patience in combat is a virtue that comes with great rewards. Especially since as a ranger you can camo, and keep tabs on them, while waiting. Yeah, it is likely they may use another right away, but maybe not if you time it right. Or, then they use another, you initiate combat, realize it, and flee and wait some more. It will be extremely infuriating to your opponent, but they will also be wasting their missile shields, and most likely make many attempts to goad you into fighting them on their terms. If you see them heading to the bank, you know you at least have them low on scrolls, use it to your advantage.
Some good suggestions in there - we do have something in the works to find a fair balance on the archery/scrolls issue.
