Feedback is helpful, lets add more.

When we dcheck or history check in the game a small symbol appears near our name in the who list. This serves a purpose, it highlights our activity to the staff, as well as works to remind us that we have already done those things.

And all we have to do is wait.....

However, I see room for improvement. For Instance.

application list

[  0 ] Someone: Someone's Application to Something

We could add a couple of flags to this output.

application list

[  0 ] Someone: Someone's Application to Something [R]    (Tells us our Application HAS been reviewed/received)

application list

[  0 ] Someone: Someone's Application to Something [+]   (Tells us that conditions look favorable for approval)

application list

[  0 ] Someone: Someone's Application to Something [*]    (Tells us that we are failing to impress the voters)

This may eliminate some frustrations in that a player who applies for something mid month, would have a way to track the progress of his applications and know if it is under review, as well as alter his game if he is failing. Just a place we could improve without making anyone more powerful, I thought I would share.

I believe this one is particularly redundant, or at least the least informative.  Reason being is so long as you don't mistype "Immortal," it should be received by the immortals.  Additionally, if it were reviewed or received by a particular Immortal, eg. he who deals with Avatars, it's still an immortal and will be received if typed correctly.  If it has been reviewed, it's possible it would appear to be favorable or unfavorable, barring complete ignorance of the character.  Even were it there for those few cases, I think it would be little used.

Of course, that's speculation as the Imms themselves would have more insight.

Other than that, I like the idea.  Needs more structure I think, but it's a good start.

The only down side I see is those people who see + or *,  then relax their RP or lose interest entirely respectively.  However, I believe that the benefits would outweigh the detriments.  Personally, I'd push that little extra for approval or ask what I was doing wrong so I could adjust accordingly.

The reason I added the R, is in the case of cabal apps should they not always need an immortal nod. Your playtime and the current L may be out of sync.

Edit. I have also been victim of application drops. This change would atleast informed me that no one was watching.

Yeah, thought you might say that it could be used for cabal apps.  But again, so long as you type the cabal correctly, everyone gets it.  As soon as you log in, you're thrown into the voting booth, for example.  Again, it's redundant.  Now a +/- while votes are tallied on the other hand, I can get behind.

I just can't think of an alternative for the R, except in those instances when it could be a neutral indication.  Basically a read app but the accepting Imm has yet to make a judgement either way or a tied vote for cabal applications.  Though instead of an R for read and a * for unfavorable, it could translate to a +/*/- for favorable, neutral and unfavorable respectively.

Unless of course that the R is used for apps that are coming to the end of their lifespan.  The dropped app.  An app that has been lost through time and had no deciding votes or qthing approval/rejections, so you'll need to Reapply.

... guess I thought of an alternative after all. :D

The moment someone sees that * next to it we will have a 2 page whine to deal with on prayer.

You'd be astonished how upset people get for getting docked 3 (!) rp points for doing something that's not really in character for their character. I imagine this would even be worse.

I like the Idea of giving anyone with an app to immortal (not to cabal, not a dcheck) a flag beside their name though, would point out to all the staff to watch this guy extra.

To add on:

We check applications regularly, even if we are not the immortals responsible (ie, i still read psi apps even though I don't approve/deny them). That way, should the immortal responsible not be able to log in for an extended time, or be otherwise incapable of putting in the legwork to make a decision (limited time, no shared hours of play), the rest of us can band together and discuss what we've seen and make the appropriate call.

Thats basically it in a nut shell. I read every application, every forum log, every journal - regardless if its already been awarded.

That way when I see nerd#1 in the lands, I can bug them with something very specific if I have time aka: nerd#1 is afraid of worms because, as an orphan, his parents died from brain eating worms that crawl through your ears when you sleep on the ground. knowing this its more fun to start messing with nerd#1 by making the ground wiggle and jump etc...

Creep.

Is this "like the post above you" day?  Because I can get into that, even though this post risks breaking that trend. :aggressive:  Though just before I post this, Lloth goes and ruins it for everyone.

This just lends weight to the main reason I was saying that the original R suggestion was redundant/least informative.  Everyone in the target audience receives it; everyone in the target audience should read it.  Provided of course that your spelling is on point.

A flag next to their name sounds cool, too.  But it's got to be an A.  And it's got to be scarlet.

Maybe worn on a tabard ...

There, happy?

Yes.  A lot, thanks.
