Raid-Like EQ Changes

So here is my idea to solve the "Rare" issue and bring some balance/challenge back to the 50 zone

Make all rares NONRARE (keep the rare flag so u cant hold excess, but make them not limited in terms of spawn rate)

yes, everyone can have full adeptus or full whatever. It will level the playing field and make the game more enjoyable.

However, rares should become harder to get.

For instance - Adeptus and the 4 plagues and the Horror should only reset once per week.

This makes PK at 50 more fun. And it will give those decked powerhouses more of a challenge instead of just hoarding rares that no one else can get.

Why hide all the fun eq from everyone just so a few people can have it and make them all the more powerful?

I think this is a brilliant idea.

While this might sound good at first place, have you considered that even if all your rares get sacrificed you will still have to wait a whole week before being able to recover them, and even then someone might still log right before you and snatch them, so you will have to wait another week?

This does not mean I don't like the idea.

I think it can be expanded on.

Rares should stay rare, but their "timer" should depend on their level.

For example - if someone sacrifices your elemental bracelet it will need a couple of hours to reappear. If someone sacrifices your adeptus gear though. it will reappear only after a month.

I still have no idea how this would affect the experience we get from the game though - would it improve it or would it worsen it? I think it's worth some consideration at least though.

And lastly, the cool wares won't be so cool anymore when even your average Joe wears it.

EQ being "valued" is kind of a lame idea in my opinion.

Look at WoW or D2 or anywhere else. No one values eq in the sense of putting it on a pedestal because only the elite have it...it is there for everyone and everyone has an EQUAL chance of getting it. Hell, for $50 bucks you could have a mega-decked D2 character.

PK at 50 should be about SKILL overall. EQ will still play a part beceause people can still be "decked" compared to others, but it will stop people from being SO decked that they are unbeatable.

And Foxx, my idea about timers on the eq was meant for only the high-level rares. The best-in-slot items, so to speak.

Adeptus and similiar bosses spawn once a week.

Valcor and similiar bosses spawn once a day.

Again, this would balance things a little at 50. Not everyone is going to rush out and get decked immediately because of the timers. Losing eq still has a down-side because of the timers.

mega-decked people will now be on more of a level playing field because there chance of running up against someone in a similiar set of eq is higher.

This focuses more on SKILL at 50pk as opposed to gear. SKILL over time played. SKILL over ooc connection gear trips.

I've had similar strains of thought and I would like to see this brainstormed a bit more.

I feel like unless the timer was more random... there would just be a line of people camped out waiting for the item to pop... seems a little... I'm not sure what... I want to say pointless. It would be FAR more balanced to just have a drop rate than have to memorize what time of the day X mob pops.

Nothin wrong with makin it random. Sometime within the next 7 days, etc

If we did this, I do think certain top-end rares would have to disappear. Specifically +spelllvl eq seems to throw balance into a big top-spin. Also, there is the argument that a pure melee has a top end power spike above other classes but they are also more dependent on the EQ, thus their "valleys" of power are steeper. This would give them more benefit with a smaller risk, which means we'd need to look at where they average out.

I don't believe in +spellvl eq anyway. Melees have no equivalent.

could make all spellvl eq USEABLE for their affect and only last 2 hours though.

lvl52/53 spells on a cleric/shaman is just ridiculous. when Anamus can 2 round Sepahoona....something is wrong lol

I dont like the idea because of several issues. What will happen with the cabal outfits? What will happen with the merchants?Would you like me to have 10 monorods stored in the locker or in my backpack?Melees will just dominate everyone. And the four plagues doesn't hold anything of such a value. The best equipment is sometimes not in desolation/dischord.

hells fury not of value? leggings of reflection? cloak of unmoving shadows?

amulet of sanctity? staff?

I know the best EQ is not in deso/dischord but you are discrediting some very valuable pieces. That's why anything hold EQ with an itemlvl of over 50 (4plagues, adeptus, etc) should have a spawn timer, but always have the item.

Outfits are still a good get-up-and-running thing.

Merchants will now have MORE stuff to sell. Instead of waiting a week for adeptus, how about you buy my full suit for 1mil?

Decked out melees vs decked out shamans (of equal skill) is still a challenge.

And it would take you 10 weeks to get 10 monorods in this change. (gear resetting every week)

and thats IF you get it every trip.

AND its still got a "rare" flag so u cant locker it OR backpack it

Keep in mind Gear isn't going to be any easier to get through. Nor any other area.

This also dampens to ****ty feeling of getting full looted/full sac'd quite a bit now because you know the eq can be obtained again in time, instead of it being lost "forever"

MMA has a point.

I would perhaps like to add a small suggestion, instead of the EQ resetting every week, it could perhaps reset 1 week after the last time it has been gathered.

I.e. I kill adeptus and get his stuff and they appear again after a week and not I kill him and sunday and then in monday he has his stuff again.

That will also stop people from logging in just to equip.

And what invoker would like to fight against a warrior with 60/60 dam, hitroll and -60 aff saves?Or a cleric, or a battlemage? We all see what a decked warrior like Thulgan can do.Look the log of Syl vs Thulgan and look at how many spells he saved against the invoker.

I have killed Thulgan. ( i havent read the Syl log...did he try call lightning? Did he have lvll52+ dispels? )

I have not even scratched Anamus.

I've killed warriors decked like that with a battlemage before too. And an Invoker

In terms of warriors though....a warrior, due to weapon choice, should have the damage advantage in almost any fight. It comes down to attrition gaming and chasing in most cases for them.

Non-neutral mages who face someone with a magic resistance or high-lvl saves is going to have a hard(er) time, as they should. But if they have +spell lvl, good tactics, and even curatives...they have an equal chance at winning.

It balances out though. People decked in saves suffer in melee fights, and vice versa. The equipment "balance" in my opinion is fine...you just need to dress appropriately for your enemies. It is the amount of this eq that is hurting everyone.

Players like Thulgan or Anamus or Sepahoona who are decked out of the ears and do not play very often have this great eq and are almost invincible....you can't create a character and get all the necessary eq you need to compete with them, let alone defeat them these days.

Maybe I need to start full looting the "great" people I kill. I never looted Thulgan or Grum (that I can remember, anyway...and if I did it was maybe 1 piece) but I've been full looted by at least one of these people.

Making it harder for me or anyone else in that situation to get back on their feet, or even feel motivated to try.

Rare circulation IS a problem folks. Don't care what numbers are in play or how much they've been changed. Once 2-4 (ogre war, drow cleric, dwarf cleric, drow shaman) people get megadecked and hardly play.....people cannot get decked enough to compete. They get discouraged because the stuff they want isn't in.

I remember back in the day I could log in and Adeptus would have 2-3 pieces a lot of times. I haven't seen him have more than 1 piece in the past year. ARMOR, not weapon. I remember making one trip to Adeptus and he had everything

If you are talking about Klemsor logs...

No offense to anyone who plays invokers but...

Dispel/Hellstream spamming is NOT playing an Invoker properly. There are SOOOO many invokers who do this (granted it is effective in a lot of cases) but it is not impressive and is not utilizing the class to the best of its ability.

That being said....I don't see any log of any invoker vs Thulgan that the Invoker really showed mastery of the class.
