KAELTHARC

Kaeltharc was once a human mage of unrivaled power and ambition.  Two
millennia ago, as the world descended into chaos, he sought the ultimate
power to protect his realm from the encroaching dark forces.  In his quest
for knowledge, he stumbled upon the forbidden tomes of necromancy, which
spoke of a pact one could strike to become a lich.  He delved deep into the
arcane arts, mastering the spells that could grant him eternal life.  As the
final incantations were completed, Kaeltharc felt his life force drain away,
his body withering into a desiccated husk.  Yet, the power surging through
him reconstructed his form, imbuing his bones with unholy energy and
transforming him into a creature of undying sorcery.  His reign as a
benevolent protector was brief, however, as the weight of his immortality
began to twist his mind.  The love for his people grew into a possessive
obsession, and the lands he once cherished grew stale under his endless
watch.  In his solitude, Kaeltharc became a collector of forgotten lore, his
towering library a bastion of knowledge from eras long lost to dust.  He has
seen empires rise and fall, civilizations flourish and fade, all while his
own sanity waxed and waned with the passing centuries.  His thirst for
knowledge grew into an all-consuming obsession, leading him to make pacts
with beings from beyond the mortal realms.  The whispers of these eldritch
entities filled his mind with dreams of power beyond measure and the secrets
of the cosmos itself.
