OK. So maybe this is already out there, and I just don't know about it, but one thing that used to really piss me off when i was a new player was not having a clue where I was, or where I was going. Perhaps we could make some maps of the lands that actually map out the whole lands in some detail, instead of those line drawings we get of the major cities? I think a map of the whole place along with a brief description of each area would be a big help to making new ppl stick around. Just a thought. Let me know what you think.
IKFL
Didn't there used to be a map of most of the FL world online somewhere? I used to have a link, years ago. It'd have to be updated now of course. And it wasn't super detailed, like room by room or nothing, nor should it be.
Check the wiki. There are a lot of detailed maps up there.
When I was new, one of my biggest frustrations came from rooms that needed (and still need) fixed. New me walks out of val miran to the west. Oh look a forest. Wandered a bit... Where am I (oh yeah!) Look Sky>>>You can see little from indoors.... Frustrating.
That is intentional. If you read the descriptions, the canopy is too thick for sunlight.
I'll second the original post. I always got lost when I was new. :S
I know Lord Zhokril, but when we built that canopy you could run around on top of it. Since you no longer can I figured someone would do some tree trimming. Its not like I do not appreciate the aspect of the room, meaning the thought behind the environment, but when teaching people to play this game "look sky" helps them to learn the borders between areas. Later this becomes the deciding factor in pk situations. This forest is right outside one of the cities we tell "new players" to start from. No disrespect intended I just think the thick canopy is placed in a bad position. Why did we not move these rooms to the glade with the canopy itself?
How about making it so "where" shows the area name?

I have heard people before say that they do not agree with you much. But I definitely think this is a phenomenal idea Pali. gives a golf clap
I'll admit, I'm against Pali's idea and I don't even have a reason why. I usually make sure I have a well thought out argument with constructive ideas...I got nothing. Just a bad feeling. Might have been the Taco Bell I had earlier though. Tried out two of the new Volcano Burritos.
What about the maps found in the library. Poor little Quoap worked his *** off makeing each of those maps. Though I don't know if he (it) made a map of the whole world in one map, but of each area.
re:IKfL
Pretty good actually. One of the better things they've come out with recently. I'd buy a set again. I hope they stick around. They are now my second favorite for the moment after the reigning champ, the Chicken Quesidia. With extra sauce.
You are a pansy those aren't even close to hot...granted the one I had had about a pound and a half of sour cream in it. I don't think I like it either though...so you know what area you are in with a where (something you can do blind I believe) but I can't call lightning on you? Questionable...
Steak quesadilla ftw...take you chicken and shove it.
I never said they were hot, or in any way spicy. Believe me you want some spicy food, you, me, and absolutly no common sense can take a trip to Alb. NM during the State Fair and I'll show you some roasted chilis that are hot and spicy. (and some hot and spiciy latina women while we are there
).
I love me some spicy food, and you can't get that at Taco Bell, or most places in the U.S. for that matter. Especially fast food joints.
oh...I thought you were implying that the spiciness of the burrito put you in a bad mood. Hell yeah I'll go eat some roasted chilis. I'll buy the gallon of milk, you buy the bread...and we'll split the costs for the ulcer treatments.
Sounds like a plan to me.
Time to re-rail this thread train.
I for one am down for where showing you the area, having the same restriction on blind that where normally has plus also not showing you the area you are in.
