Now that was fun!!!
Neutral monks
Alright, if you are going to get your undergarments in a bunch and start being dicky toward people who are dicky toward you then allow me to give you some advice, don't slam English skills with spelling errors in your post.
Capitalize your if and your english, you really shouldn't start a sentence with if, and the .. should really be ...
If you want to **** on me, do so for me being a dick. You've actually got a reason to do that. The spelling correction route is a weak troll for people who don't have any actual merits to stand on.
WC
edit: Naturally I am not one to care about other people's spelling and grammar, but when you question someone else on their use...
edit 2: Look Mad, I know I'm an ***. I know I have a short fuse. But I don't take things so personal, and I tend to forget quick. I know I've been dickish toward you quite a bit lately, but it's nothing personal. You're new here and this is a long established community. Certain people are certain ways, and obviously they get more stuck in there ways the long they live somewhere, most times it's not my intention to **** all over people, it's just how it comes out. It you want to put me in my place, do it the way Mudder did when I chewed on Mya. It's times like those where I think to myself, 'Man, I probably shouldn't have been a tard. Now I feel bad.' But post like these I think 'These people are just having some fun with me.'
Hopefully you recognize that I'm not trying to be a dick just to you personally, I'm just saying 'Hello' and showing the ropes in my own way. If not, I hope this explains it, I don't want to be the reason people leave the game.
dude.. chill.. i was obviously joking.. have you read many posts of mine? i type terribly. why would i bother telling anyone else their english was terrible, when mine is in the ****ter? take a deep breath.
rule numer one of MCD: never take that guy seriously. i dont think he could be if he tried.
Oh f**k! We've got a Grim wanna-be. ![]()

no.. just.. no..
To return to the point of this thread, I must say that outside of "why not", I have yet to see a thought provoking reason why monks should be neutral. Monks in Aabahran are somewhat unlike monks in other lores. They seclude themselves from the public and their devotion to their monasteries leads them to either heroics and generosity or malice and selfishness. Monk monasteries teach only these two ways. Aabahran's monks are, in my assessment, similar to the dichotomy represented by - pardon the comparison - Jedis and Siths.
I think I would love to see Good and Evil monks assume the form of different animals:
Crane vs Snake for example, or Tiger vs Leopard.

Ooh, that'd be sweet... maybe give them slightly different effects as well (i.e. crane doublekick does what it does now, snake doublekick has a poison chance).
I realize monks are insanely disciplined, and very heavily trained and have insane focus. And that they have the capacity for insane good, as well as insane evil. I just did not understand how a monk could not have the capacity for both, knowing that the world is comprised of both good, and evil. Without such a balance, the good would inevitably become evil. And vica versa.

Absolute power corrupts often. Absolute evil power corrupts absolutely. Absolute Vodka is refined piss. Absolute good power makes a really nice tea, served on an paradise island in the dead sea, and with a nice coconut macaroon; you'll never have a daintier time.
Or, like Malch said, Monks are either Evil or Good because that's how their teachings lead them. I don't understand how any ranger guildmaster would teach a feral, them being damned and all (Undeads are damned by gaia too, they get the gimp log for it too if they're rangers), but it happens. Just accept it for what it is, man, because, you have to. It's the way. And when you accept the way, you get the Renewed mind (is the key).

I did not really think there needed to be a thought provoking reason. But I will give it a try.
Monks have been a paramount of self knowledge, and discipline. There is not creature on the face of aabahran that is incapable of both good, and evil acts. Most stop themself from doing something against their alignment via self control, but it is within all creatures to perform good, and evil. A monk would understand that this is the natural order of all things. And with that would understand that to truly master yourself, you would need to not only accept this fact, but also step towards mastering that within themself.

I think its time we revamp Monks! I've been waiting to see forms such a Bear, and Snake. Leopard would be interesting, but not so much in common lore (not that I don't think that would be kick-butt awesome). Can we brainstorm those kinds of ideas as to what new forms to give monks and their effects? ![]()
On a side note, A Clockwork Orange was by far the most facked up movie I have ever watched. And yet it had an interesting view into the psychology of man.
In other words. Cool avatar Malch.
We ever get a definitive answer on this?

MONK MONKS
Monks are ascetics who learn their skills at a monastery instead of a
guild. Monks must practice rigorous mental and physical training and
discipline to achieve their powers. Although they perform incredible
physical and mental feats, they cannot cast spells. They receive their
powers through heavy meditation. Monks are guardians of knowledge and are
also masters of unarmed combat. Most monks shun weapons as the last resort
of the weak. Because monks rely on their quickness, they can not wear heavy
clothing. Also, due to their exstensive training monks excel beyond most
mortals in their skill in hand to hand fighting, surpassing normal
boundries. Monks are also able to stay the killing blow to their opponent,
instead granting them mercy.
Perhaps you could change help monks, to reflect your explanation.
I think this would help.
And to give an Idea, perhaps we could have an Monastery for Good monks and one for Evil monks.
The Volcano one could be revamped. Quite a dull place, useful for nothing except Hunting.
And a new area added perhaps deep inside the Underdark, to be the Tainted Monastery.
Or we could corrupt the Vulcano Monastery to evil, and make an exiled Monastery near Winter or some other secluded place.
....Or just bring back the monastery near Aruncus. ![]()
