Removal of rank titles.

Here's an idea:

How about we remove player titles from the who list so that only player names and cabal tags are seen? That way there is a little element of uncertainty when you meet new players in your PK range. Perhaps this might even offer some more roleplay since a person has to discover what he is fighting instead of charging in fully prepared against that class.

Well... I think the titles, and the skills related to them (mostly disguise) are fine as they are. People are proud members of guilds, why would they try to hide that?

Well if we're looking for RP explanations, I can just as easily ask how does everyone know others' rank and title? It it listed up on a billboard for everyone to see? Do they wear a nametag reading: Hi! My name is Elfy the Paladin.

But we as players are hero's of the Aabahran world. Every citizen, creature, and bartender (har har) in the world knows who were are. As well as every other hero who strives for excellence.

I used to think the rank titles should be less specific with regards to rank. My idea was to give a new one every five or so levels. That way, you've still got them, but instead of having it be a tell-tale sign of your rank, people have to be slightly more careful.

However, now? I think it adds a nice flavor to the game. If you're saying that no one would be able to known what your rank was just by seeing you, you could argue a few things.

How could you be dismemebered more than four times in combat and still walk/hold weapons?

How could you even know who is on by typing "who"?

etc.

I think the biggest reason is history and tradition. Why change something that is a part of the game, and has been a part of the game for so long, when the change really would not contribute to the game?

Because it would be cool and new.

And just imagine throwing together a quick hunting party. You ask two people randomly in your group range only to find out you have a cleric, invoker, and battlemage. (Pre 30, that is)

You can always ask what guild they belong to. But I guess that would require more typing than:

You tell Elfy "Group? Emerald."

Elfy replies, "Idiot. Tombs."

Naw you see, Deykari is playing the elf.

I always try to spice up my requests for a hunt. But sadly that means I get turned down more often than if I were cut and dry. I even had a guy yell at me for not taking hunting seriously not long ago, and the conversation went to the point where he ignored me. (Yay RP)

I hate this idea, personally. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
