Do you want this MUD to die?

In any business one of the most important things is CUSTOMER SERVICE. What am I talking about? This MUD is a business, if you don't believe me ask how much it costs to keep it going annually. However there is actually something more important than money for this MUD to stay alive and that's people. This MUD MUST HAVE PEOPLE to stay alive. Too many MUDS have died off because they chose not to include and adhere to the needs of the masses. One of the biggest problems I am seeing on this mud is how the IMMS treat the player. Don't get me wrong, when I first came in with Throrik my healer many of you helped me out and greeted me with open arms, but there are a few of you that need to learn some REAL customer service skills.  I have made a few characters now and remember why I quit playing MUDS all together and especially this one. The following is a list that I feel MUST STOP in order for this MUD to continue, or it WILL die quicker than it should.

1.  This is a GAME and is meant to be enjoyed so don't be a grammar nazi or any type of nazi as far as that goes because you suck the joy out of the game. (Don't get me wrong, I understand if you have to approve a description, but don't be a jerk about it, if there is a mispell or something be kind and courteous about it, NOT CONDESCENDING!)

1. This is to all the so called "Immortals", YOU ARE NOT REAL GOD'S, do you understand this? Then stop being so damn rude and overbearing on the players, you are making this GAME not fun and making people want to leave. Why should I spend my time getting talked down to by some jerk with a god complex? No one in their right mind will put up with that too long.

2. If someone needs help, help them and don't act like their pulling your teeth out when you do help them. People can tell when you are being genuine and when you hate your job, so be genuine.

All in all this can be summed up in one simple rule, the golden rule in fact, which is simply, "Treat others the way you would want to be treated." If you live by this then everything I mentioned should come natural and IF it doesn't then LEARN how to be kind and genuine, customer service will make or break ANY business every time!

I thought about just giving up and leaving because I had an altercation with a certain imm with one of my characters, but I do not want to see this MUD die, but we all have to be willing to learn and move forward because what is going on right now is not working. I will not mention the Imms name because I don't like mud slinging, but this has got to stop guys, we can't be running around squashing new players and expecting them to continue playing, it doesn't work that way.

The helpfile is old and outdated so I understand the confusion when I told you to dcheck again. I updated the helpfile.

It's not just you Rygo, that was just the straw that broke the camel's back, but I appreciate you letting me know it DOES make a difference.

I'd be interested to know who else has treated you badly - I think as a staff we try and be as helpful as possible.

So I witnessed the interaction with Rygothran (in fact, I was walking him through a command and was snooping him at the time). 

None of what he did could have been construed as rude or overbearing. How was this an issue for you?

Yes, this is a game, and is meant to be enjoyed. However, grammar and spelling matter, especially in a description. We're not going to come after you if your RP / says / emotes are terribly spelled or grammatically incorrect, however if your description lacks any of the above, we expect it to be fixed :)

Again, who was being overbearing, and how? Who talked down to you? Why do you believe you were spoken down to? If you have an issue, bring it to the prayer form so we can nip it in the ass. Telling us via prayer "YOU KNOW YOU'RE NOT A REAL GOD, RIGHT?" when we're trying to fix something for you won't get a good response at any point throughout the interaction. It's condescending for YOU to say that, especially when we're trying to help.

Again, same as above - who, what, where, when? Why has it gotten to this point? You're aware of the Prayer Forum, right? You're also aware we legitimately log every single interaction in the MUD, right? So we can fix this, if something needs fixed. Please stop being vague about it and let us know what's up.

Finally, I disagree. This MUD is not a business. It's a past time that we all enjoy. Unfortunately, the player is not always right. If they are, we address it and apologize if an apology is warranted. We bend over backwards for players.

Regardless, that doesn't change the fact that we aren't purposefully assholes to our players. If we come off as one, let us know and we'll nip it quick. We need to see it in order to fix it. Posting a 'this is the last straw' thread when we've seen no issues up until now doesn't really help your case.

God knows I might have a bad day and be unintentionally (or maybe intentionally rude) at some point. If its the case lay it on us.

Honestly how can you chastise people who have spent literally countless hours for 0 compensation. I've been probably more than an average headache from time to time, yet once I'm done being an asshole, imms don't hold a grudge and I'm treated more than fair. It sounds like alot of misunderstanding what was meant, and reacting poorly.

I think everyone has said their piece in relation to this for now.

Adding my opinion.

I've been very helpful to your chars, because they had problems with things most ppl here know as basics. It showed that you were new / returned, so of course we helped out.

HOWEVER. I think you simply do not wish to put in any effort. You expect to get everything served to you on a silver platter. It does not work this way here. We're here and very willing to help you, but if you want something for your character, it's YOU and not the staff who has do something. Else it would be unfair to other players who do put in that effort, don't you think?

Example: The staff got a note asking us to make a player (inductee at this time in his cabal) able to clan draft people into their clan so they could draft you. I was a little curious why you wanted this, so I asked you via echo and it turned out you did not know about the normal way to join a clan. I explained it to you and even gave you a direction where to find the clan hall of that clan. You found it (after only a minute or so) but realized you could not join. As I was still snooping you, I helped you to realize why this was the case (wrong ethos) and also told you you can either join another clan or apply for an ethos change (application to Immortal) with an ic (in character) application. The result from you was a not ic note to Immortal. Sorry, but no, we will not change your ethos because you send a note to Immortal saying basically, hey, pretty please change that? I explained it to you again, saying you need to find out why your target cabal has this ethos and then think of a reason why your character would want to behave in this way and then send an application with a story about this. You did not.

Instead, you send us a pray and a 2 liner note on other characters about wanting journeyman, which I had given your first character without you even asking. Even though you usually have to apply for it, we just set you to journeyman, here again, a total unwillingness from your side to put in effort? Maybe it was also a misunderstanding as you thought it was application to immortalS which does not work.

In any of this, I was never condescending. I was trying to help you and I was extremely patient. I am sorry if you feel we were not helpful enough.

Well thanks for proving my point. I am bringing something up that I have noticed that could make the mud better and you have to tear me down and be condescending instead of LISTENING to my concerns. FIRST of all as I said earlier RYGO was the straw that broke the camels back, there was another incident with one of my other characters and an immortal to which i will not get into detail after seeing how you just tore my first post apart and talked down at me and yet claimed i talked down at you (very nice indeed). I think you made your point that you really don't care what your players concerns are and therefore you should not even have this channel in the forum because you're not going to listen to us anyways. Bottom line you are ignoring my concerns and twisting things to fit your view point, I told you EXACTLY what MY concerns WERE and instead of listening you attack my credibility and this is the exact kind of behavior that I am referring to in my post.

So making a suggestion is chastisement, saying hey guys let's play fair and be respectful so this mud doesn't die is somehow rude and out of line? You guys seem to be incredibly defensive and don't seem to take critical feedback too well, I made the assumption that this channel was for ideas and suggestions and all I have gotten in return is subtle tear downs. And to answer your reference of "countless hours for 0 compensation" what do you think every new player is DOING. They don't come on here to get treated poorly or talked down here they come here to have fun and they are getting NO compensation for it, if anything the imms HAVE compensation with their higher positions so that is an incredibly odd way of looking at it in my opinion.

Talk about completely MISSING the POINT and your an IMP?! First of all, obviously like you said I AM NEW, SO NEW IN FACT, that i didn't know how to join a cabal and yet you speak of that as a personal flaw of mine like i'm a piece of garbage or something because I didn't know how to do something. Again thank you for proving my point. You people are backwards thinkers in how you treat new players. By the way I decided that I didn't WANT to change my ethos with that character because I chose a different path and no I don't want everything on a silver platter I wasn't even referring to THIS incident with my original post on the forum, but the fact that you replied and WHAT you replied proves this mud has some serious issues with the staff.
