What if we had the beep command.

You know the command that some muds have where you type:

Beep mya

and i hear a windows BEEP sound.

This is great to attrack the atention of people. And most clients have it. Even old win98 telnet had it. So if i wished to talk to someone, that was sleeping or training i could beep him and he would wake or take notice. You know for when we are web surfing and training. Things pass to fast for you to see/check.

Anyway this commonad could also have a OFF/QUiet. Or anti spam thing.

I like it.

I don't. Sounds annoying. But as long as I can turn it off, I wouldn't mind, since I would have it off all time then.

reply shows tells you missed I believe.

Not all clients work with beep systems. I've installed them on muds before only to find virtually none of them work the same.

Replay replays tells you missed while sleeping.

You usually get a message that you missed one as I recall.

I don't think it does it for when your sleeping, but I know if you go link dead and people talk to you, then it should show the message saying something along the lines of: "You have missed tells. Type "replay" to review them."

My question for the beeping is this, how can you know that someone half way across the world is wanting to speak to you while you're sleeping? I can see if you are awake that everyone has a link to one another in a sort of telepathic sense, but when you're sleeping you are not aware of anyone/anything else around you, so why should you be able to know if someone is attempting to talk to you?

Beeping would just annoy me. Besided i agree with Nightmare from hell, If you are sleeping why should you be able to know whats going on around you?

I mean it sort of detracts from the RP of the game if you can tap into someones mind while they are asleep and leave a windows beep in their head!

psh, you knew what I was talkin about! typed that as I ran out the door for school, had no time to spellcheck.

Also, if you're standing in the room, just wake the person up.

I believe for the trip command it says something like...

They have to be standing first.

or something

You can open with trip, I've done it on people after I've strangled them with my ninja. Likewise, I've had it done to me by thieves and ninjae who have had me sleeping.

No I'm not, because I don't play warrior/berskeres that much and when I do my oppenants aren't sleeping.

But, I do know I've seen the message 'They must be standing' and I was fairly sure it was because the person was sleeping.
