Flipping a coin to get 100% on one side is impossible, regardless if you have a trillion people on each of a trillion planets flipping for lifespan of the universe. It doesn't have to with stats or prob at all. It's a matter of mechanics. Each time a coin is flipped, you have to use some kind of energy on it, probably heat if you're going to do it so many times. When energy goes through anything, it changes, regardless of what it is. The coin would become utterly malformed by the time you even got to the high numbers.
oh..yeah..and since there's a ZERO percent chance of the coin being unaffected each time you flip, it WILL be malformed.
oh..oh..yeah this also why it's impossible to be immortal, no matter the chance.. ignoring that the universe will freeze, which it almost certainly will, unless our current understanding is wrong
I'm not saying that....
....nevermind. I'm going back to japanese baseball.
"Some say the Earth will end in fire, some say in ice..."
Followed by Meteor showers and Tidal waves.... Learn to Swim!
Cause you know I am praying for rain!
I just flipped to the last page because I had too little time to read the earlier pages. I would like to ask how flipping a coin and the destruction of the earth have anything to do with ranger ambush??
and thats why you will never own with rangers.
Ever seen the butterfly effect? It just goes to show you how much we trail off subject some times, i'm sure if yu read the entire thread you'll understand it, I did...and I uh kinda get it......
it's zrothum's fault. He's so tired and wired he can't keep on topic and he drags everybody else into his madness
Just to make the madness worse....I heard if you're flipping a quarter, you'll get heads more often then not because the weights (heads vs. eagle) are different, one weighs a bit more so it increases the chance of landing a certain way.
How about THAT!
show of hands, whose been flipping coins the past few days...
oh..yeah..and since there's a ZERO percent chance of the coin being unaffected each time you flip, it WILL be malformed.
I'd like to see a malformed coin.
And I dont even know what the argument is.
Say the chance of getting heads is 0.5, and the chance of getting tails is 0.5,
It IS possible to get a million heads in a row. but the probability may as well be zero
0.5^1000000 to be exact
there are two sides of the coin. its 50/50' date=' always.[/quote']
A coin is a cylinder and therefore has 3 sides.
Flip a coin sometime and tell me how many times it doesn't land.
Then count how many times it lands on edge.
Get back to us sometime before the end of the year and let us know.
posts.
Pfft you people need to learn to play the field. I bet I could flip a coin and get at least 99% if not 100% chance of not only guessing what side it lands on but having it land on edge.

Just flip it in. The best way to win is generally to cheat.
Damn funnel thing didn't come out.
we should really start thinking about changing the name on this thread...
-
Rangers get all those charmies to keep em warm. Theives dont.

There is always another factor in life. Is the coin lop-sided? I cannot say that the coin is perfect everytime because it wont be. There is no such thing as perfect.

Im no egghead BUT!
Scientists found out that water was once on Mars. They found out that Mars used to have a magnetic field like the one around Earth but its gone and thats why the planet = DEAD.
The field protects against solar winds (sun radiation). In recent times our field has been at 85% which is the lowest in modern history.
The molten core of earth is constantly spinning and produces a magnetic current which (some how) produces a magnetic field that shoots up threw the north pole surrounds the world and returns threw the south pole.
When lava hardens into rock, the rock "remembers" the the magnetic field of the exact moment it was hardened. When scientists Investigated rocks that were formed by volcanos 1000s of years ago they found that our field ran backwards (South to north).
As they incremented back and forth they found that the field actually decreases to 25% and then switches north to south and builds back up to 100%. If the field decreases to 25% we will get own3d hardcore.
Did i mention we are 1000s of years overdue for a field switch.
A cylindar does not have 3 sides. Go study Euler's formula a bit more. Also, the chances of you flipping a coin into a narrow crack are astronimical. The velocity in which the coin is turning over it's own width would practically NEVER allow it to take the degree of descent it would need.
"practically NEVER allow"
but practically never happens - a lot.
Its like me in pk - I practically never die.
Unless it was a large hole that thinned out as it went down.

now factor in the odds that you just happen to be flipping a coin directly above a crack that is perfect for that?
In any case, if I has an eternity to waste testing it, I will be flipping an american half-dollar coin, over a flat surface. So your theories about it landing on it's "Edge" are ruled out
Does anyone remember what zip code the topic is in?
