The 1 thing that would make clubs great...

In an attempt to minimize ongoing derailment of the original thread (Target Bars), I'm putting my comments here.

Quick refresher for those reading in the future. Here's how we got here.

  1. Hey we should add target bars like tank bars.
  2. That's cool.
  3. That's dumb.
  4. You could do that with client scripts.
  5. There should be a forum section dedicated to client scripts.
  6. But there's already a club.
  7. A what?
  8. A club. It's player led.
  9. ...

Look, I have no opinion about clubs themselves. I don't know enough about them and don't care to figure it out. I still don't understand the difference.

My comments are about the fact that this discussion can be (should be) super useful for a lot of people. And because it would be so useful, it should be where all of the other conversations are... or at least easily accessible from there.

@Magick You said the club is 1 click deep for you. I think that's because you started it. I'm in a club. I don't have a recent activity widget.

If you want clubs to be useful, you have to be able to see activity on the main forum page. I'm referring to the page linked to by the logo: https://theforsakenlands.com/community/

Can a recent club activity widget be added to the bottom of the main forum page? Move the Clubs link closer to the front of the line? Can we do something to indicate that it's alive and kicking... that it's more important than a 1-entry blog and the birthday calendar?

If you want to keep them out of sight because they're player run and who knows what the hell will be going on, I get it. In that case, I think the scripts discussion warrants its own full forum section.

Close.  I said for me as there's a "recent activity in my clubs" sidebar.  It's two only if you're not a member of that club.  That I made that particular club is irrelevant.  You joined a club almost 60 days after the last post in that club, and that was almost 60 days ago by itself.  120 days is not recent by far so that's probably why you have nothing.

Both the main forum and the clubs have their own side bar.  I do however agree that even being that one click away does bury it a little.  The best way to promote something is to give it more visibility.  Doesn't matter if it's the right tool for the right job, if people don't see it, they're potentially not going to use it.  Like what's happened with the calendar.  What calendar, you say?  Exactly.  Having a link on the navbar is fine, but people forget that we have a wiki at times, so it can be improved.

Then comes the problem though, that even if there was a feed from the clubs directly onto the main page, you don't normally see posts unless you're subscribed to a particular club.  Much in the same way that you can't download anything from a particular club unless you're a member as I found out some time ago.

A question I too, am asking.  There's some good potential in the clubs.

To echo Myrek again, if we can't, or just don't care, there's always the full forum section for at least the scripts.

Clubs renamed to "Player Forums".

Moved Player Forums to the bottom of the current forum list.

Also added a Menu Item.

Let me know if there's anything else I can improve here.

I don't know about you, but as a professional marketer and designer, I think that looks great.

Indeed, it does look good.  In shuffling things around, something broke @Erelei:

Lloth posted a topic in %s

Magick replied to Lloth's topic in %s

@Magick I fixed this. Sorry about that.

Huh... until this thread I didn't even know they existed.  Now they're like an extra forum below the forum!  Nicely done.
