With the last log there being 8/16 I think it deserves some new content. This idea furthers that goal by reducing the burden on players to dox in order to post up RP and it also reduces the burdens on IMMS to transfer rp material to the rp forum.
If posts were made as polls from 1 to 10 then players could vote on RP rewards for all characters in the log.
Not that this would be binding, however some players asked to award points to each other, and others may gauge collective thought on the log through a poll system.
As much as I would love to see more role play logs and take whatever work off the Immortals that we can, I personally don't want to see this happen.
Sometimes in game I have a role play session that is meant to be between two characters and not really shared with other players due to its nature. I have no control over that other player posting something and possibly revealing something about my character that I did not want known. Such as a piece of their history.
It would take away some of the magic if you read a log about part of a characters history and then interacted with them in game. For some, maybe even all it is very difficult to seperate OOC knowledge with character knowledge 100%.
Maybe put a rule in that until all parties of the log are deleted/denied that it cannot be posted. I would be down for that.

I personally would keep every single RP log from being posted with this rule.
My characters do not usually get deleted or denied, they merely walk away from the madness.
So then you would have to set a timer, say characters inactive for 30 days. But then we are talking about your shelved character... Shux!
Maybe, just maybe, its always for the best if our RP is being shared. Even when it adds difficulty to the game.
In most games the difficulty setting can be altered to create the atmosphere the player will enjoy most.
In Aabahran, many factors set the difficulty level, RP is second only to race/class/cabal synergy in its power over this setting.
I, like many others, am limited in my play time. Limited to which characters I will see and interact with.
But we are not talking about Jim and Jenna down the street, we are talking about world famous individuals.
So its unreasonable to think that just because my playtime did not align with Pas, that my character would not have heard rumors about him.
So chalk it up to the paparazzi. Blame, shame, and maim a Herald if you have too, but let the RP logs flow.
The Rumor Mill - Uncensored Role Play
Actually, why not set it up like the old Shout Out style, where an IMM can nix the thread if its in poor taste, shames a character, or in any way detracts from adjacent characters role play?
Thulgan blew Rheydin to nothing. I'm sure he didnt do it alone. Do you think if a log was posted on forums of role play between a character and Thulgan discussing the plot that the result would have been the same? Could every single player that read that log sit idle while their beloved Rheydin was destroyed?

Perhaps. Doubtful.
To me this reads like it supports the idea - making other players get involved in a global plot is a huge incentive.

Sure, other players are getting involved. Using OOC knowledge from something they read on the forum. Which is against the rules.
I'm not against the idea I simply don't support it unless there are defined guidelines as to what you shouldn't post in a role play log with characters who are actively trying to affect change on the down low in game.
I think regulations are good for something like this.
RP makes Aabahran great. If your just looking for PVP, you may find a thousand more entertaining options. But Aabahran lets you BECOME what you want.
RP Log should not happen annually, and that's the trouble, whether it stems from No RP in game (not the case), lack of properly edited Logs (likely a big problem), or lack of interest (this thread proves otherwise), we need to find the solution.
@Fool_Hardy, the problem most likely lies in the fact that you have a small group of individuals (immortals) assigned to read through role play logs, journals, descriptions, and notes. All while doing other imm duties as assigned. All while living normal lives like all the players.
Each player could have 1 or 5 characters that post any or all of the above. It's work. It takes time. I'm sure if they're reading my journals and logs they are prob bored as hell with it too.
I also believe you have to specifically say, "can you post this log into the log forum" then it has to be judged as worthy content. Maybe I am wrong. This is obviously incentive to actually integrate what @Mali is suggesting. With some stipulations of course.
