Good thing instruments are hard to cleave. It can take hours to slowly build those babies up.

Haymaker and headbutt would have been valid options.

Have you ever tried to haymaker a bard? I've tried it numerous times throughout duels and open fights. Your chances of landing it are the same of winning the Maryland Lottery. I attempted to try mace form here and realized he was hitting the crap out of me, so I switch to the most defensive I can go, and still gets through my defenses. I was nearly fulled after the encounter and came back shortly after sending him off running. Having cleave mastered with a fire weapon that adds to cleave, the chances are cleaving were still low. I failed a lot and failing it would cost me a lot of battles.

Why was the zerker only getting one or two attacks in per round? Don't they get third and or fourth attack?

If you didnt waste your time with the deluge, fireball, lightning bolt and just sang for the iceball you coulda got

out of there with probably 1000 hp vs a nicely dressed cabaled warmaster zerker, whew, that was close!

with a full charged staff,  AND have the melee output of a raged berserker, AND can heal itself, AND can restore its own mana.

'special enlarging boots' OR a venom sack they are wasting their time. Thats just a bard vs a melee class, now think about vs a mage.

up to 4+ attacks per round at a raged berserkers output? lol, dont forget the ability to hit vulns.

 

In my opinion bards need a niche. Is it their weapon creation? is it their ability to heal mana and hp while doing melee damage? Is

it their superior song/casting spell damage? They need to be focused on one area and then the equipment OR sklills of the lands

needs to be able to prevent and or save against it where applicable.

 

And no I dont play anymore so this doesnt affect me, however I have developed a few relationships with a couple players and enjoy the forums

so ill still be around in part with information and ideas that f0xx and Trick will hate

Twohanded weapons and only 3 attacks max. They 'used' to be able to do such immense damage each round

per strike that it balanced out. Has the damage been capped allowing high hitroll damroll melee classes to

match the berserker output? Just wondering.

You guys are completely ignoring all the mistakes the zerker made.  No dirt kick.  Raged very early.  No zerk skills except trying to weapon cleave...3? times.  There was no tact here.  And that's why this is a one-sided log.

Mmm bear is right on one thing, the zerk is capable of more, specially an warmaster one.

 

Isn't Z fury? I think I recall him cleaving one of my burnprof weapons.

If he is, why isn't he blocking those arrows?

If he changed to anger, why isn't he haymaking instead of cleaving?

 

Why isn't his opener that OP tornado that does two things?

 

Also something ppl keep forgetting, if you don't know the weapon, use a shield.

I would use an axe and a shield. Specialty if he now is anger.

I would tornado, roar him and then headbut.

You can't just sing iceball. It's all four or nothing.

 

Bards can't outdamage invokers with their songs in PK. It juts won't happen. Sure they can make some big numbers appear, like ===damage=== when hitting a vuln, but that's at a two round lag cost which is a big opening in pk. Invokers can do that in one round.

 

I can count 7 classes that lag with skills(not including trip) not two.

 

You're right. The fact that dissonance lags is kind of iffy. I think that should be a selectable vogue, not available to all. Maybe Piercing Note since it kinda got nerfed into the ground.

 

A bard's heal is anywhere from 10-30 hp. No bard is going to sing that in combat when he can be doing something else. Also, bards can not restore mana in combat.

Meh. Maybe a vogue certain bards get. But if they do, it's unknown to me.

Either way, I don't think that the bard won due to being overpowered in this fight. The Bard won due to mistakes made by the zerk. Must have been an off day, I've seen Zhurong play very solidly.

Both NOT blinded.

Zhurong landed 6 strikes as a raged berserker.

Bard landed 21 strikes as a stand still.

Zhurongs best hit was a LACERATE while RAGED.

Bards best hit was a mangle at the end, massacre before that.

Based on Melee damage alone Zhrong got tuned like a fiddle. Berserkers used to rage (give up dodge) in order to out

damage opponents because that's what they are supposed to do, he raged, lost dodge but still got out damaged per hit

as well as In total strikes landed.

You guys say Zhrong made this mistake, made that mistake, shoulda did this/that. They stood in front of each other

to trade strikes and the bard simply and easily took him to school in hits landed AND max damage per hit. Bodyslam

was useless cuz he was getting out Meleed so he couldnt stop the song damage, his only way to win was to cleave

because he also couldn't flee/sleep crap with being raged.

In my opinion NOBODY should be out damaging a raged berserker, if they are only gonna get a max 3 hits per round

those things need to be money cuz 2 of them are getting parried anyways. Just my thoughts

But anyhow, appearantly Zhurong made all the mistakes while the bard had the time to scan, sing out a fireball on a fg,

deluge, lightning, ice all and vibrado as well as load his bow.

Looks to me like the bard wasted rounds while the raged berserker was soaking up Melee damage trying to win.

Really, bards literally went from useless to lvl 51.

Despite many of you wanting to think bards are OP the fact is Zhurong really played it poorly.

 

1. Weapon selection. He started with a two handed mace. Bards have proficiency in mace, bad idea. Then he switched to a polearm (better idea) but it was a magical one, bad idea vs a dwarf. He should have been dual wielding mundane or water weapons the bard doesn't know.

 

1. He attacked him in the city where bards brawl works best (as far as I know) thats why Galumba got so many attacks in.

 

1. He did not kick dirt. Bards do not have blind fighting, dirt kick really really really needed to happen.

 

I don't know much about zerks but dont they have some way to deal with arrows? Zhurong took a bit of damage from the bow too.

 

Also re: Mya, Zhurong looked like a Gladiator so no Cyclone was available.

Rage power is proportional to rage path. Anger's get little, devastation get a vuln like damage.

One of the problems here is weapon type. Zerks knew all weapons except whip, which while extremely offensive can't parry well.

Even if the zerk went dual axes, to match the bards offensive, he would still lose the meele race, due to less defenses.

Perhaps that is why he went with a mace. Although a water mace would have been better.

Maybe he didn't know bards knew maces. Although I would use a water mace and a shield vs a dwarf bard (mace stance). Or the spear+shield.
