Because that is just as easily if not more easily "abused" to wreck/bolster someones record with cheap kills, etc.
Pit humping, killing a WM that someone else mercied, tagging/ganging...all those kinda kills AND deaths start showing up on records.
Challenges were meant to be a way for a WM to show his courage in the face of death. Not a score sheet to try and do everything you can to avoid fights that will end in a loss and pad with wins.
There are arguments on both sides and I realize this. Like you all have said, and I agree with, WMs are under no pressure to have to agree to any/every term their opponent brings up. But likewise they should be held accountable for the aspect of the cabal they chose to join. A very common misconception in the game.
All I've been saying is that if we are going to have a challenge system in game where the function is accept/decline then why are we taking away the decline aspect?
Nobody is taking away the decline aspect. It still works, and some people use it. They are given an opt-out choice as well. Just because some function exists in the game doesn't mean it needs to be the absolute end-all.
Edit: And those "bad deaths" show up in your pfile record and condition record..why not in your win-loss record? Just an idea.
Opting out of a fight is the same as declining it. If you choose to not accept it, you are declining it. Whatever the reason is doesn't matter, you are declining the fight. RP your reasons in defense of your record, but don't abuse a loophole.
edit: Because only IMMs can view pfile records?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against a total rework of the challenge aspect of the cabal, just against this loophole that's been given to WMs.
Opting out of a fight is the same as declining it.
It can be the same, but it doesn't need to be. The point of the matter is, this game purposely chose to define it as not. It isn't some loophole or bug; it was changed specifically to function as it does. My guess is, there is more abuse from the challengers than the WMs, so the system is set up that way.
It was changed to prevent abuse from non-WMs, I know. But that opened up (read: loophole) the reverse-abuse of WMs getting out of any decline showing up on their record unless they wanted to fight a fight they knew they could win.
This argument is boring now.
Which is better Hasbro or Jelly Belly?
Just out of curiosity as I'm reading some older records...when was this changed, anyway?
This type of suggestion falls under the "make life easier" category. Right up there with ringing the dinner bell, and assuming I have to defend vs a raid. You should never be able to decide when and where I fight. That is my choice. Forcing negatives on me because you want to save yourself time finding me is absolutely ridiculous.
It was changed in very early 2.0...shortly after the challenge system was put in..so any record you can find will almost be certainly post change.
That does not seem accurate, but then again time has really flown by...so I'll take your word for it!
Egreir - why not send a tell to the WM before the challenge is issued. IMHO that's just good manners. I personally decline (and let it show on my record) challenges from anyone who doesn't speak to me first. WMs generally don't like rudeness.
RP-wise why would you expect one of the most decorated veterans/well known cage fighters in all the lands to be at your beck and call? That is not the RP of the cabal.
L-A
I typically do RP before I send a challenge.
And, I don't expect him to be at my beck and call. I expect him to decline the fight if he doesn't want to take it.
Your opinion is bad because.... You said you were on the streets two weeks ago! Boooo.
Lol things got straightened out pretty fast, what can I say?
McDonald's has free wifi, huh?
Apparently lots of place do. And nice benches outside for you to sleep on while you use it.
