Can we possibly have a thread, or even a full section on the forum here for each (non q)class's abilities? Just a skill/spell/song would be nice, that way newer players don't have to roll the character up, something they probably wouldn't do anyway.
Class skills
It's on the wiki...
I did not even know we had a wiki.
Why are such things on the wiki and not on our newbie section in the forum is beyond me

Quite simply the Wiki is better able to allow for sorting through links easier. The forums would just create a mess of links and clutter. I enjoy the fact we have a Wiki, but I firmly believe the content of the Wiki should also appear on the Most Excellent web page that was created.
The web page is more visually appealing than a Wiki and the "links" are like buttons and actually create a feeling that transcends "clicking".
What I still find odd is that the forums have, to us as players, transcended any web page. No offense, but we definitely need to remember that web page should be placed ABOVE the wiki to draw in new players and we should promote it above the forums first as the forums cannot be immediately accessed.
Just my two pence.
Whoever runs the wiki needs to update the xp penalties of the classes(just looked it up and saw they weren't changed yet).
Valek makes some good points... However, I think that, in many ways, it may be better if our links from MUD-listing sites sent people to the forums rather than the actual game website. My main reason for thinking this is simply that, of all things that have kept my eye on FL over the years, it's been the forum - we've got skilled, intelligent, dedicated, friendly players here who care about improving the game and providing a quality experience in-game (yes, there's trash here and there and it's annoying - but I think we can all agree the good outweighs the bad substantially).
Getting involved in a community is, psychologically, a powerful draw. If someone glances at the forum and finds even just one or two threads to be interesting reads - they're pretty likely to stick around. I think people like Liadon are good examples of this - she made herself known on the forums very early on in her time here, and I like to think this has made her feel more comfortable and at home here as well as, to some degree, improving her in-game experiences. Newbs tend to take a lot of punishment, and if we can include them in the FL community as early as possible, we can provide them more support, encouragement, and advice during their learning periods.
I agree with Pali that it is the forums (us) that gets people to stay.
Perhaps there is a way to create a new forum section that its only purpose is to proudly display the large title of WEB PAGE.
Nothing sticks out like a giant neon sign.
And then players can take what they know, try to apply it, and collaborate with us throughout the process.
Wiki says gnome = good/neutral = Really??

yes...many neutral gnomes.

Haven't seen the gnome with the golden aura yet. I'll keep looking. If I keep killing them I'm bound to come across one that has that golden glow. Defiant little bastards think they know everything. Let's see what they know about my axe in their amygdala. ![]()
