Destruction of S'handor
800 to 850 PC
For centuries, the cursed fortress of S'handor stood as a monument to Virigoth's treachery. Khalandar, the creature that had once been King Balwen the Magnificent, haunted its walls in endless undeath. Between 800 and 850 PC, heroes of Aabahran finally marched on S'handor's gates to end it.
The Betrayal of Balwen
Before the Cataclysm, Balwen ruled S'handor. His advisor Mordeth made a deal with a common soldier named Vergat. In exchange for leading a rebellion, Vergat would receive a position among the king's elite bodyguards. Mordeth then betrayed Vergat to the king, earning himself the rank of High Advisor. Traugor the Just destroyed the rebel camp. Vergat escaped. He renamed himself Virigoth.
When S'handor felt most secure, Virigoth returned. He coerced Mordeth into drugging a military banquet. While every soldier slept, Virigoth killed every man, woman, and child in the city in a single hour. Traugor was executed before Balwen's eyes. Virigoth gave Mordeth the smoldering ruins as a "reward" and cursed him to never leave. Then he dragged Balwen to the Soul Forge and turned him into the abomination known as Khalandar.
Anume
When the heroes finally stormed S'handor, Khalandar froze them all with a wave of power and mocked them as he drew energy from harvested souls. The ground began to shake. Lava poured from the city's foundations. Geysers erupted. From one crater, a translucent orb of energy rose and a woman emerged.
Khalandar sent his Scourge Demons to destroy her. They dogpiled onto her body. Beams of white light erupted from beneath them and a single blast eradicated every one. His undead warriors charged. She slaughtered them without breaking a sweat. Khalandar demanded her name.
She replied: "Anume. The weapon of the one TRUE God."
Their battle was long and brutal. Khalandar impaled her through the stomach. She turned, sliced off his arm, stabbed his neck, and took his head in seconds. His body flashed to dust. Moments later, S'handor collapsed into fiery pits and the Volcano erupted in its place. A group of Discord worshippers later built The Pentagram near the site.
